FORT POLK, La. (AP) - The Louisiana National Guard is helping to train Iraq's federal police force.
Members of the guard's 225th Engineer Brigade have been working with Iraq's 2nd Federal Police Division at Fort Polk, the Army base that made the collaboration public with a news release on Thursday. The police division mans checkpoints in Baghdad.
Fort Polk officials said the Iraqis received and will continue to get training from the guard on how to detect the roadside bombs known as "improvised explosive devices."
