OMG! Just discovered MNSSHP will be..

They stared it in August last year, we were there in August last year. Our first day of a five day trip nothing was up, when we visited MK on our last day the park was completely decorated.

Also if you go to the first party be prepared for it to be very crowded, reviews from the last few years is that they severely oversell the first party.

Good to know!

It's started at the end of August the last 2, 3 years. I know because that's when my birthday falls and we typically go then and usually hit the first HP too. Strange as it is.

This will be the third year it has started in August. We went to the first party in August 2017 and the second party in August 2018. If you are going the first night, prepare for big crowds and lots of bloggers.

Yes, we went to first party last year and it was sold out (all the bloggers/media go to first one)... very crowded and very hot. We did what we wanted, few low wait rides, fireworks, show, trick or treating, parade... but wasn't very pleasant doing it all navigating the crowds and trying to stay hydrated, with long lines at restaurants and most carts are closed, so hard to get water.

Ill be there 08/16!!! Im excited too. Its our first August trip. We usually go Sept/Oct, but with my daughter in HS now, she cant miss a lot of school, so Aug it is!

That's 2+ months of Halloween. Most kids aren't even back in school yet in Chicago, and Halloween stuff starts appearing in the stores. Halloween has become a big cash cow I guess in this country. At least in the midwest, and obviously in the themeparks. The kids love it, and I have heard many folks say how it's their favorite holiday. I guess they want to offer the party to as many folks as possible, since it's so popular. I wonder how many days are between the end of the Halloween Party, and the beginning of the Christmas Party?

It has started in August for years.
Last year was the first for MID August and this year followed suit.

In the past, it has been less than a week.

They severely oversell every party.

This is a really good point. If you need anything you would typically buy at a cart (bottled water, etc.), buy it before the party starts. Last year we were heading from Adventureland into the hub and my DS was thirsty. I will never forget the lines at the carts for the MNSSHP popcorn buckets. It probably would have taken us 45 minutes to an hour to get a water. Thank goodness the lines weren't too long at the Lunching Pad, but we literally had to walk all the way over to Tomorrowland to get some water.

The crowds in August 2017 were really manageable. August 2018 was a different story. As PP mentioned, I, too, think they've started to severely oversell these parties.

I’ve always wanted to go to this party, but being a teacher it’s hard to get off in September and October. So I am excited to be able to go August 16!
