Went to our local Shop Rite today

The Cashiers got new uniform, the charcol gray jackets (the old style grocer jackets) and ties

The kid made a comment and said, "yeah all I need is a bow tie"

I said to him and the lady in back of me who was chatting with us,

"Oh god then you would look like Mr. Whipple"

He was "WHO??!!'. He had no idea who Mr. Whipple was!

I tried to explain, but he looked at me like I had three heads, as I told him Mr. Whipple was a grocery store man who use to go around telling folks not to squeeze the Charmin, and then would squeeze it himself.

SO can anyone think of any other commericials from the days of yore--the 60's and 70's, that the kids today dont know about

I have one

Madge----Palmolive Liquid Detergent

any others

Well I'm only 31 but yes I have one!!

John-Cole went on a Scavenger Hunt with the Church last Saturday. Well when I picked him up he said they had lost. I said really why? He said we missed a question. (they had to find the answers or items to questions somewhere in the mall.) I said what did you miss?

He says "What is E.T.'s favorite snack!"

Hello!!! I was amazed he didn't know that!!!

Rats! I thought this was going to be a thread about ways to deminish those fine line or something! I was looking for some suggestions! :p

How about "I can't believe I ate the whole thing"?

Or "Where's the beef?"

When I worked at the hospital, the younger girls that worked in Medical Records had no idea what a "record" was.

How many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop?

How about this uniform from Publix!

:teeth:
I miss Shop Rite! They have EVERYTHING. Publix lacks a lot compared to Shop Rite. :(

Its time to make the Donuts
I'd walk a mile for a camel
Charlie the Tuna
The good N Plenty one(escapes me right now) must be a SR moment

Awhile back I was soaking in the tub and noticed the soap was all gone, I yelled out to my fiance that I needed a bar of soap, he yelled back that he would just run down to the A&P and get me a bar of Lifeboy:confused: For those of you who don't remember either of these, they haven't been around for yrs! Silence followed, and then we both laughed and he said LIFEBOY?????? At the same time I said A&P???????

Oh......I thought you were inviting us to a Botox Party;)

Calgon take me away.

There was an Enjoli perfume commercial where a woman sang, " I can bring home the bacon. Fry it up in a pan. And never, never let you forget you're a man, cuz I'm a woman." UGH I hated that commercial!

How about the Meow mix cat food comercial WHERE THE CAT SANG, "Meow, meow, meow , moew....................."

I work in a middle school with 12-13 year olds. Most of the teachers on our floor are fresh grads 22-24. The teacher I work with is my age (thankfully), every once in awhile he'll say something or I'll say something in class and we'll laugh and the kids will look at us like "huh - what are you talking about"? They make me feel old on a daily basis, but I don't mind!!

Lots of good memories in this thread. It's a rare thing to find a good and memorable commercial anymore. I think about the only ones I like at the moment are those Sprint commercials with the guy in the trench coat. :)

Beth, tell Mr. DJJC that Reese's Pieces are yucky so I said it's okay that he forgot. :)

"Whatever it is I think I see/becomes a Tootsie Roll to me..."
"I'm a Pepper, he's a Pepper, she's a Pepper.... Wouldn't you like to be a Pepper too?"

That Enjoli commercial - now it's stuck in my head and it took YEARS to get it out of my head!:p

This is sounding like Sandra Bullock in DEMOLITION MAN !

How 'bout Oscar Meier Weiner?

How many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop? :)

When I decided to grow my hair a couple years ago, I told my 20-something hair dresser that I was tired of looking like Dorothy Hamil......He said, "who"
Wasn't that the most famous cut in the world.............
in the 70's!!!

LOL, Yzma and Kronk. I've worn my hair in variations of a wedge (just like Dorothy) since the 70's! In fact, I asked the hairdresser to cut it just like hers when I cut off my long hair in high school. I like my hair short and it's a comfortable cut for me. Guess I'm really living in the past for sure! :teeth:

I'm so glad she's back on TV with that commercial......I can explain my hair style to the young ones.
Merry Poppins - you're still in style - upon seeing that commerical DD7 said, "Look Mom, it's Sarah Hughes" (hee-hee :))

My baloney has a first name; It's O-S-C-A-R

But my favorite:

Comic books and rubber bands,
Climb into the tree top.
Falling down and holding hands,
Tricycles and Redpop.
Pony rides and Sunday nights,
Roller skates and yo-yos
Fairy tales and snowball fights
Climb in through the window.
Remember when you were a kid?
Well part of you still is,
And that's why we make Faygo.
Faygo remembers.

I sometimes sing it when I see Faygo at the grocery store. DH thinks I'm nuts.
