I called this afternoon to switch my Feb AKL-Standard reservations to Jan 16-23 AKL-Standard because of the BRP rate decrease for Jan 16-Feb 4. I gave my information to a very nice CM and she told me that she had to check on something and would be right back to me. I figured she would tell me my rate was 840.78 like it said on the BRP online reservation screen and that would be that. When she came back her supervisor asked me my address and stuff like that and she put me on hold. At this point I was wondering what was going on. The CM finally came back and told me that I had a special pin code attached to my name and that my rate was going to be 679.28 ($97.04 night) :earseek:. She did tell me that this pin rate was only good for 7 nights max so I couldn't increase my stay and use this rate.

Being sceptical about this, I checked my reservation online and the same rate came up, and I called twice more and talked once to another CM and once to a supervisor and was told that 679.28 was the correct rate. Some don't mind the parking lot view and some do, however for $97.04, I willl take the parking lot view and say thank you.

I guess this is what Disney magic is all about. The funny thing is when you least expect it, that's when the Disney magic happens.

eblack0409,

They didn't say how it was attached, and I was afraid to ask because I didn't want them to come back and tell me it was put against my name in error. The only thing I can think of, is that the last time I was there in Feb I was aked to take part in a Disney survey which had my name, number, address, etc on it.

vamassey1,

I orginally had booked through the online AP BRP and since my Feb rate was more than the Jan rate, I was expecting them to charge me the $50 change fee, but she came back and told me about the PIN and the discount and allowed me to change the reservation without a penalty. Maybe that's the reason why the supervisor had to get my information from me because I was going from a package to a room only and she could authorize the change.

An awesome rate...better than I am paying for a moderate during value season! Congrats.

d4est,

That's why I called back twice to make sure that this was for AKL. I know that some people in the past have gotten PIN code rates like this, but those kind of deals seemed to be happening less and less. I guess you just never know.

Susiesnowflake,

I guess with all the savings I got, I will have to suck it up and eat at a couple nice WDW resturants :). I really wasn't planning on taking a vacation this early in the year again, but I'm not sure when I will get a deal like this again.

WHAT A DEAL!!!!!!!! Oh, man....I thought $149 was good, but you beat me there!

Just goes to show how checking and rechecking leads you to some unexpected savings!

Enjoy AKL!!!

Yeah!!! :cool1:

Well Jason now you HAVE to call back & ask the pin rate on the Polynesian!

jjohnson,

I thought about that, but I'm afraid if I call, they will tell me that the code wasn't ment for my name.

If you don't get a written confirmation in the mail with that rate, you will have to call. If they realize it wasn't meant for your name, you will not get it at check in unless you can prove it in writing. Some thing like that happened to one of the posters here before. She got this really great rate & then when she called back, they informed her it was a mistake. There was nothing she could do to prove it either.. I can't remember who it was that it happened to. I hate to be the one to bring the bad news, but better safe than sorry at check in...

A Mickeyfan,

Thanks for the warning. I checked online and that shows the same rate as what CRO told me which was $97.04 a night.

I remember that thread too. It had something to do with a pin code & the CM booked it without asking for the pin #.

Congratulations!!! Have a great time!!

Yep... something like that and the poster ended up not getting that really good rate..... I want to say that they did do a compromise, but didn't give her the lower rate....

Jason,

You are truly a lucky person. I hope you have a wonderful time.

Vanessa

vamassey1,

Thanks. I'm sure in one way or another Disney will get that extra money out of me anyways.

I had a similar situation happen to me yesterday that didn't turn out as well and I lost sleep over it last night. :sad1: I had a reservation using the BRP at POFQ for 4 nights in mid-December. I called to see what was available and prices if I wanted to upgrade to deluxe. I asked about CR and the CM looked and said "$459.38 for the entire package. . . Hmm, that can't be right." He searched all over and had me on hold forever while he looked into it. After 20 minutes on the phone, he came back and said that was the right rate and I must have gotten some disney magic. I was thrilled, but skeptical and asked him to check again and make sure. He was certain, so I jumped on it and didn't even ask for rates at any of the other resorts I was considering. About an hour later, I checked on-line and it showed a total of $1418.28 for my 4 nights in a CR wing room!!! So, I picked up the phone and called back. The 2nd CM, who was very nice, simply insisted that the 1st CM had made a mistake and that the actual package price for the 4 nights was $936.60 - which made sense b/c it was $70/night off the rack rate. He said the website was messed up and it would reflect the right amount soon. I was so disappointed, I couldn't think straight and just said ok. So, as expected, the web-site now shows $936.60.

After sleeping on it, I'm so frustrated. I think I just want my POFQ reservation back, but since I never checked out availability anywhere else, I'm not certain. I'm afraid they're going to try to stick me with the $50 change fee if I ask for my POFQ back b/c I'm changing to a lower price package. I don't want to have to fight about this, but I'm afraid its going to be a problem. And to make it all worse, I have to wait until 2pm before I can call b/c they only talk to us BRP people between 2-5!!! ARGGGGHHH!!!

Thanks for listening. You guys always understand the madness.
