OMG!!!! I got a PIN!!!!!!!!!

...and am so sad that I cannot use it. I have been trying since my trip in 2007 and my trip in 2008 to get one and I can't use it. Ihave been lurking lately and seeing the threads on those of you who have received FD and secretly been jealous and in the back of my mind hoped that I should be so lucky. So upon randomly checking my email today, I found one!!

I am starting my final year of college and my leased car goes back in feb so I need to save for another car. I am desperately trying to remind myself that our trip at Christmas was the last one for awhile and it the best one ever, better than the first!

I am sooo sad. Sending pins to Canadians does not happen very often.

My second trip was in Dec and it was beautiful, and even for free dining I would not go back in August. So this pin is especially bittersweet, FD in the winter but dates too early for me to be off school.

Free dining is the perfect offer for me because my son does not eat enough for it to be worth it. Both trips I have bought standard dining, but barely break even with the way my son eats, but do it for the character meals etc. But if I wasn't paying for it, I would care less what he eats, cause it would be FREE.

Sorry for the long post, just venting my mixed emotions of excitment and sadness. Thanks for listening.

What do you think the chances are of getting another pin in the future if I don't use this one?

Forgive my ignorance, but how does one get a PIN? I gather from the threads that they are special offers that Disney emails out to people. How do I get on the list? I should probably search the boards and would likely find the answer, but I will admit (and my wife will agree) that I am too lazy.

Nobody knows how you get one.

I haven't received one until yesterday. I have been registered with Disney.com and Disney.ca for a long time. I have gone online and logged in and priced out trips and have ordered the trip planning video.

I plan on upgrading my tickets in October to AP (first time). I can't take advantage of my PIN either as it's just too close to my other trip.

I have done all of the same things as squirrel. I have been twice and both times I have been stopped in the park to do surveys, however that is not the email the code came to.

I registered on disneyworld.com and ordered the video last November and have not done anything since our trip in Dec because I have been so busy with school.

I finally received a pin code as well, and I've never received one before now. I have no idea why I finally received it after doing many of the same things as many people on the board, but it's unfortunate that I can't use it, as we can't afford to go to WDW until the later part of 2011.

Hey, if I got that PIN I wouldn't be able to use it either as I am having a baby at the beginning of Nov.
hang in there & hope for a PIN for 2010, that's what we're doing.

Thanks! We were actually booked w/ FD in Sept but did a last minute this past May, which was much nicer being only 4 months pregnant.
Don't worry we'll get a PIN next yr.

I heard that it might be the customized maps that help your chance of getting a PIN.

I did go into the customized maps and checked it out a few weeks/month ago.

I got the pin too, and it was in my spam box, not from an email I recognized ..

My husband got our pin....he was just going over his emails and I walked by and he is like another disney email, did you get it too? and I was like NO..then I spotted the PiN number...hey I said forward that one to me...he was about to delete it thinking it was just about the free dining..
It's a pin for free dining for us from august 23-december 17th....anytime and we can go as many times as we like with this one pin...yeah I know I wish.
anyhow it's up to 14 days of dining during these dates!! sweet
except....our plan was for going on march break!!!!
hmmmm.....
we might have to go in the fall now. I mean, 160 dollars a day of free dining for our family .... how can u turn that down?

How exciting! I also got one this week. My first PIN ever and I can actually use it as we have already booked for October. It was for free dining for my Oct trip.

I am not sure how they are generated, my TA says randomly. However, my friend (also in Canada) received one the same night. I had been on the Disney site playing with the custom maps hoping that would help me get on the PIN list but my friend hadn't logged in on months.

It's a mystery but hopefully they are sending them out to more Canadians.

I am a DVC member and I received my very first PIN e-mail on Monday. We just got back from a trip in May and will now go back using the PIN in December.

I am registered for the newsletter and I received the extended free dining pin code this week.

My friend has only requested a planning DVD and she also received the pin code this week.

Luckily it works perfectly with the time we were planning on going, free dining here we come.
