OMG I can't go SHOPPING tech help needed

Okay, now I'm really messed up.
I have two accounts. My main one that I use all the time HRH.Queen.Evil, and a lesser used one. All my money is in my main account. I've saved all month for Halloween and have 170,000 credits. But I can't get a "good" login in ON THAT ACCOUNT. I tried all day yesterday.

I haven't been banned. (1. I've done nothing wrong, and 2. I can make it to the map page somtimes but then stuck. 3. When I make it to map page she's on jessica's friends list)

My machine is fine as I can log into my other account. The one with no money. Starting Wednesday morning I'm AFK until late Sunday night or Wednesday morning.

I've tried using IE 6x, vmkpal, and lastest firefox. Similar results on each.
Here are the 3 things I get.
Update screen (halloween splash) usually goes through then.
1. blank black screen
2. map comes up can navigate through tabs, or to land maps, but cannot enter room.
3. Get the disconnected dialog box.

Here's what I've tried.
Shut down everything. Restarted everything. (multiple times)
Used another computer. (same thing)
Reloaded shockwave.
on map screen tried ctrl-R
Deleted cookies, Deleted temp files. (Restarted everything)
Logged problem to disney
Screamed.
Threw tantrum
Begged, pleaded, made unrealistic promises to my computer.

I've played as much as I can yesterday to shop as much as possible but - it's not quite what i envisioned!!!!!!


Anyone overcome such a thing?

It was a VERY busy day for VMK yesturday. I crashed a million times. I would suggest you just try again today. There were almost 6,000 people on yesturday it was the highest I have ever seen it. I got stuck between screens all day and would just walk away and come back and be in the room I was trying for. There are always little bugs that come when they make changes, it's just a thought but it may just have been that. Good luck getting on, after saving so much I hope it pays off for you.

It may be simply the fact that you have so much stuff. I know that on my main account, it takes three times longer to log in than it does with my other account.

One thing that may help is to increase the Virtual Memory on your computer. I don't know which OS you're using, but I use Windows 2000 on my slow machine and increasing the virtual memory made it so that I can actually get into VMK and walk around (no luck playing games, but still, it's an improvement).

Google "how to increase virtual memory" then choose the result from support.microsoft.com. That'll tell you what you need to do.

Narni has a good point, I have mentioned the VM issue with VMK before - also... increase the size of your Temp Internet file folder - the default is 1 gig, I set mine to 6 gig just for vmk

Same thing today. I know yesterday was slow, but could get in with alternate account. Too much stuff....hmm. I don't think so. Looking at some of the folks, I'd classify myself as medium on stuff and very little on my person.

VM is fine. Brand new, hot machine and 2 gig of real memory, XP ME, dual core processor. And I made a new account today (had to have a boy cuz I wanted that crown!) The two alternates work fine. Even at the same time.

Virtual memory has nothing to do with how good your computer is, It is set the same default whether you have a $5 computer or a $5000 computer
quadruple it and see how it works. Same with Temp internet file folder size

Fair enough.

I doubled the VM (it was 2 Gig, and maximum is 4 gig). Temporary files, I'm assuming you mean the IE setting? It was 256 MB (and empty since I'd already cleared out the files and cookies) and I increased it to a gig.

No change.

Very odd. I'm a computer genius and I can see barely anything that could help you.

Sure I can build computers from scratch, slide in the PCI cards to get them to work, install operating systems on my own (including a legal copy of the prototype Windows Vista), and more. But that...almost everything has been tried already.

Hmm, considering that you used one other computer to get on, try a third one. I use all 3 computers in my house when something goes wrong, and one of them always works.

Other than that, try to lower your computer's security settings. Make sure it is set to medium. Medium-high is too much security, medium-low is not enough. Tools Menu-->Internet Options-->Privacy tab.

Go to www.windows.com and search the site for Windows Defender. It helps get rid of nasty little things put in your computer by other programs.

Do a virus scan. No virus scanner? Go to www.symantec.com and browse around for its free virus detection and removal tool.

Other than that, I've got nothing. Which is unusual.

It was my uncleared messages. I had to next through all of them, then they would re-add as i flipped between message and friends tab and I had to delete them individually.
