Another potential idea... I could give the inferno magic pin to the DIS community and it could be passed from person to person based on some set schedule. Would something like this work?

I like that idea, but its a risk! If you do the hat thing, could you put my name in? I had to ask!

I don't think that's such a hot idea. Not everyone on the DIS can be
trusted, just like any other community.

I will give my own unsolicited advice.

Your gut feeling was to give to 1 of 5 friends. Put those 5 names in a hat.
Pick one. Give the inferno to the lucky friend.

I would also consider asking them to pass it along to a needy friend if they
win inferno later on their own, to pay it forward.

If you went with the hat idea, don't put my name in. I just VMK for fun, and not overly worried about having this magic or that rare pin.

Personally I would say trade, get something(s) you really want. You have been so generous to myself and others here in VMK, that you should spend this one on yourself.

As much as I would like inferno too, I say follow BriarRosie's suggestion. Put your 5 friends names in and pull one. She hit the nail on the head about the possibility of an untrusted party getting the pin.

Just FYI, for those of you who are asking qruthie to put your name in a hat; it's not for the inferno to be gifted. It's for the opportunity to be able to trade with her first. I highly suggest you read her postings first. From what I read, she only has a handful of people she would gift it to; if she goes that route. The hat thing for a drawing to be the first to trade with her.

Congratulations! The last thing I would do is combine them, think of everything you could do with the extra. Show it off, give it to someone -wink wink-, trade it, do two of them in a row, give it to someone -nudge-. But that's just myself and of course I am not your dictator nor am I in control of you.
In my personal inexperience (I have never had inferno. Probably never will, but hey.) I would trade or gift it. If I had one already I would definietly gift it, or perhaps give it as a major prize in a competition or quest. Or give it to my best friend. Actually if I had two one would go to my brother after all he's done for (and sometimes to) me.
Trading is a good advantage because you can keep one of the coveted magics, yet trade the other for a large quantity of rare and wanted furniture.

I think gifting is the best way to go if you already have one. Nominating one... Hmm I nominate myself!! LOL.. No. I would nominate MamaJo (formerly CL_MamaJo) for being a kind and caring Leader, especially torward guests. She did something for me that I am not even allowed to mention, and I want to show her my thanks.
I would also nominate tiggerbounces (formerly CL_tiggerbounces). She has been my role model for months now.

I've only been on VMK for two weeks. I've read about these private quests, and now, with you win, I MUST try some out. So, How do I try them? How do I know when it's a Staff quest versus a private person? Us newbies see all the excitement about all this special stuff, and have no clue how to win it! Thanks!

Congratualtions qruthie also. A friend of mine just won a couple days ago as well. i just wish i could get into the VMK Staff quests.

As far as the question of how do you know if it is a staff or private quest look at host name and if says VMK_ then it is staff. This shouldn't make you determine what quests to do though. The guest or private quests often have alot of cool prizes too. In just a matter of a couple of days i received fireworks magic, teleportation magic and as an added fun item a mickey pumpkin all from guest quests. The I time i actually got into a Staff quest and finished all I got was 50 credits. Anyway just do as many quests as you can and you will never know what you'll get

This is off topic but actually the host quests will be owned by a HOST_ most likely either HOST_Phinny HOST_Hula or HOST_Bella, although I'm pretty sure there are others..
