We are booked with first choice to stay at Port Orleans Riverside, flying out on 21st september - thats 13 days away. I just phoned Disney to make a room request and they have no record of my booking!

I spent half an hour on hold to First choice and randomly got a Thompson operator who said this is fine and not to worry and they have my details on their system.

The logic in me says it's fine, and the tickets etc are on their way to the travel agent and not to worry, the agent will have a block of rooms booked and they'll pass out details on now, but the child in me that has wanted to go to disney for ever, and has finally booked a trip is in a total panic!

Anyone have any thoughts!!!

they block book rooms from disney hold there money as long as possible then send/money info over when Disney require it as late as they can,
If First choice say all ok then it is as part of a larger TA group

I am no expert but I should imagine that your details have just not been passed to Port Orleans yet. As you say, it is 13 days awa which probably doesn't seem long to you but the resort is probably focusing on those who are checking in/out in the next couple of days. It is recommended that, if you are wanting to make a request for location etc. that you wait until about3 days before. I'm sure there's nothing to worry about

think for the ESTA/API they have to send 5 days prior.
Nowadays they don't like you to phone or fax requests(they frown upon it) better doing on check in as your face to face more chance of it being done

Your details will be passed to Disney no sooner than 10 days before check in, to allow the option for online check in which can't be done before that. As you didnt book directly with Disney, don't panic if your details are passed through even later. I would start to panic at 72 hours out, but it doesn't sound strange at all. Even though I booked through Disney UK, this year I can't call up my reservation on the US site. I could until around February but they upgraded their computer system and made some changes and since then the feature is gone. If you have your paper work, you have a reservation :goodvibes

Sorry can't help with your question, just wanted to say-we fly out on the 21st too! :thumbsup2

I thought it would probably be ok, but the inner voice just shouts OMG!!

This room request thing is so confusing, i said on a previous post that i was going to wait until 2 or 3 days out and an american lady said that this was wrong and I should phone immediately and tag it on to my booking!

Right now i'll be happy with any room!!

That's because most of the Americans book their rooms direct with Disney so, obviously, they can just add the room request to their booking. You could add your room request to your booking with first Choice if you wanted but there's little to no chance of the request even making it as far as the resort.

First choice said that they couldn't add the request on and suggested that I contact Disney direct! What a lot of success that was!

I think a case of left and and right hand doing different things!
