I'm just sick....literally have been sick to my stomach all afternoon since this!

I just (two weeks ago) got delivery of my brand spanking new Durango Limited.....LOVE this thing! Well, today in the library parking lot, as I'm driving along looking for a space, this other SUV comes flying around the corner. I know she can't make the tight corner at that speed so I stop, but she keeps coming. So I then start to reverse...well, I looked in my rearview mirror but didn't see the darn little car backing out of a space next to me and she just floored it to get out of the space (which is probably why the other SUV was flying...to try to get to the space)....anyway, my back corner hit her back corner. I need a new bumper completely and have a scratch on the quarter panel...she needs a touch up on her bumper and a new tail light. Police came and said, well, exchange your insurance.

I can't believe my brand new car now has to go live at the body shop! Darn it!!!!

The nice officer said to me as I was crying over my car "well, this happened to me too w/my new truck"....is there a new car karma out there????

Aww man! I hate it when things like that happen... I'm really sorry to hear that. :grouphug:

:grouphug: i sooo feel your pain.. i got a chevy uplander a few weeks ago and promptly backed into a golf cart that some idiot parked on the street behind my driveway. then i ran over the edge of a brick and sliced the side wall of the tire and had to replace that for $100+. not to mention that i was holding a pen today while driving and WROTE on the ceiling of the car AND the passenger seat... oh gosh, believe it or not, there is more, but i'm getting myself depressed :sad2:

Hubby got hit twice in the rear before we even had the permanent license plates!!!! We had to wait forever for parts since the car was so new.

I bought my first new car back in 1994. When it was only 8 weeks old, I was driving on a local road and a deer came running out of the woods and crashed right into the driver's side! :( The deer bounced off the car and ran back into the woods - I don't think it was even killed! But my car had some damage - I needed a new panel on the hood, a new driver's side mirror, and my driver's side door needed a new panel and repainting. My new car was at the Body Shop for two weeks. The only good thing was that I didn't sell my old car yet, so I just used it, which made me feel like I never had my new car in the first place!

Nice thing is, my car now has 203,800 miles and been very faithful! :)

Thanks all! I called my insurance right away and even took it to the body shop guy to ask his opinion and the good news is that my insurance is already ready to do the estimate and get going on fixing it. What I keep hearing is that it's an "equal fault" accident...so I guess each of our insurances will pay for it's own fixing or something like that.

I'm still sick over it, but as my DD pointed out to me as I was balling in the garage..."Mama, at least you and me didn't get bonked like the car". Sometimes it takes the wisdom of children to put things into perspective.

Good news is that I tried looking up how much this would affect my insurance in the future and did you know that State Farm has a "forgive the first accident" policy? I'm not holding my breathe, but I sure hope that goes into place!

Yep, if you've been a certain number of years without a at fault accident, they'll waive 1.

Do you know how many by chance? I realized last night that about 18 years ago when I was a dumb teenager I was in an accident (a chain collision...last car). I was not found "at fault" but one of the ladies 5 cars up in the accident sued everyone behind her for "backaches" and I know my insurance gave her some money (I don't know how much). I've since moved across the country, married, had children, etc, etc and never had a collision.

THANKS

Every insurance company is different about waiving no fault accidents, so check with yours.

We had our '06 Corolla 3 weeks when my DH ran out to Wal Mart for a few items. He backed out of his space and was putting the car into drive when a Ford Escape backed right into him. Luckily she wasn't going fast, but she sheered off the passenger side mirror. Her insurance paid for everything, but it was still a pain, especially since it was a brand new car and we had a one week old baby at home. I drive an Escape, so at least I know what damage it would do if I ever backed into his car :teeth:

I bought my first car when I was 19. I literally had the car 6 days when I was rear-ended. I cried like you wouldn't believe and the poor lady who rearended me felt absolutely horrible.

Even worse, my best friend was out test driving a vehicle when she got in a horrible accident - her fault - talk about the worse luck!
