DS (3) gashed his tounge right in the middle with something, not sure what??. DH is going to the ER with him right now. I am so worried! What will they do...stitches? My poor little boy!! :sad1:

Now..on his way to the ER to see an oral surgeon. He may need sedation before they can do stitches.

Aww poor thing... always hate to hear about little ones getting hurt.
Hope he feels better!

Poor baby. Keep us posted.
I dont think they can put stitches on the tounge due to the moisture. I could be wrong on that. Perhaps someone else can answer that for you.

How terrible!!! :sad1:

Sending lots of PD for a quick recovery!!! pixiedust: pixiedust:

Hope you hear soon that he is doing OK. I imagine it will depend on the size of the cut if he gets stitches or not, I once split my tongue open in a car accident (think forked tongue) and all they told me to do was rinse with peroxide several times a day and after eating, it healed in no time.

 for you DS and you as well.

My DS12 did that at 3yo - right in the middle. They couldn't put in stitches. It did heal ok but you can tell if you look closely.

Checking to see how he's doing. I'm sure you're getting a lot of snuggling time with him. :cloud9:

My dd bit her tongue badly when she was about 7 months old (pulling herself up on the furniture and hit her chin on the edge of the couch) and they said they only stitch if it's a bad "fork" It healed itself, but it hurt her terribly to have a bottle. She'd suck and then cry.... and then suck and then cry.... she is 16 now and you can still see a faint scar. But bleed!!!! OMG- I have never seen anything like it!

Good luck with your son!

Well, it has been a very long night, needless to say.

They finally did surgery on him about 9:30 last night and then went through recovery until 11:00. He has stitches in "layers" basically from the inside out. It is hard for him to talk. About 3:00 am, DH rushes downstairs with him...103 fever spiked. We are still working on getting it to stay down. He is acting better and not as whiny right now.

The hard part is that we just had a baby on Monday, so trying to nurse her and keep them from having crying battles to see who can be the loudest, is very difficult. Gonna be a tough week..DH goes back to work tomorrow. :guilty:

Thanks for you prayers and posts. Hopefully he will recover fine.

Wow, you really have your hands full!! Lots and lots of PD for you :wizard: :wizard:

Thanks for the update on your son. I sure hope he feels better soon - I feel so bad for him :guilty:

I feel so bad for you! Make sure you call the doc about that fever- they might want to put him on an antibiotic. I hope he feels better soon!

 I'm so sorry for you and your DS! Congrats on the new baby! I hope you have someone that can help you out! It certainly sounds like you have your hands full!

Oh gosh, what a night!!! Hopefully things have settled down a bit. Poor little guy!!!

Good wishes for your little guy, and congratulations to you and family on new little one. :goodvibes

WOW! What a night you have had! I hope ds is improving! CONGRATS on new baby! If I were closer in SC to you, I would come to help! :sunny:

When I was younger ,I bite my tongue and had to have stitches everything healed good and it function very well(ask the wife :hippie: ). Don't worry everything wil be alright and once the swelling go down he will be up and around in no time. Just think ,he is geting you ready for the stud that he will wear one day on it.
