She got everything, so I thought, that an 8 year old girl could want for Christmas and her birthday (Dec. 16th), but she just announced she was bored!!!! She wanted some craft stuff she didn't get, UUHHGGG!!!! Next, I swear, it will be less stuff. She is so bored, she's ready for school to start back. I am off today and just wanted to rest. I guess I bored her. Kids, gotta love'em.

Drives me BANANA's when my kids pull the "I'm Bored" -

I wish I could be "bored" at home all day, bored, with no worries, no commitments, etc.

If they say that to me too much, I will find them plenty of interesting, non-boring things to do - like laundry, dishes and bathroom cleaning! YAY! :cheer2:

Me too. My kids learned early that to let those dreaded words out of the bag was to regret it heartily. "I'm bored" buys you a cleaning rag and a trip to the baseboards. I have had to do it *once* with each child. They may be "bored" but now they keep it to themselves pirate:

ROFTLOLOL! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Nice way to put it - you can be as bored as you want, I dont wanna hear about it! :teeth:

Same here!!! An announcement of "I'm bored" and now you have a chore. I never have the "bored" problem either...:rotfl:

My youngest dd-15 was the only one home this Christmas week. I called her on her cell phone and she left a message like you are holding a conversation with her. At the end of the message she said, "she is really bored."

This girl sleeps till noon every day, goes by her best friends house till 11:00, watches tv, or Messengers till 1:00 and her day starts over. She did go "behind the wheel" for a lesson on Wednesday.

So today, I gave her 3 jobs and accomplished one. At least a load of towels got folded. Yippee!

I need to try that cleaning thing the next time! Right now she is so bored she is actually playing with her sister who is 4, oh the misery.....LOL. My house is a disater. We will be cleaning on Sunday afternoon probably, right now I'm sitting in Christmas clutter.

Saying you are bored gets you a rag to clean at our house as well. Now the kids know better than to say that! :confused3

When my DDs tell me they're bored, I say, "Good! That means you will have an opportunity to think creatively of ways to alleviate that boredom which will improve critical thinking and problem solving skills. Being bored is actually good for you." They usually roll their eyes at me, but within a few minutes have miraculously found something to fill their time. There was a study done on it!

When my kids announce they are bored, I tell them to go get me some of the "boring" toys in their rooms so I can donate them to charity. If all there stuff is so boring, we may as well pass it on to someone who will appreciate it!

As you may have guessed, my kids are never ever bored(at least as far as I hear)

I grew up saying "I'm bored" all the time and so now when my kids say it to me, my mom gets a real kick out of it. Revenge is finally hers. :goodvibes

That's a good one. I think I'll adapt it to the "I have nothing to do/play with" line I get fed.

LOL, my kids didn't tell me they were bored either. It took just one time of cleaning and I haven't heard it since.

"I'm bored" is never heard around here. If it is, I've got a lot of chores that need doing, while I sit in front of the computer DIS'ing. They don't like that much. :rotfl:

This thread is SOOO TRUE, hysterical AND helpful! DDs 8th BD was 12/8 and between 2 parties and Cmas, she was bored the first day on break! :sad2: Like I said, this is also helpful, because I also offer chores ;) , so I'm glad I'm not the only 'meanie' around! :rotfl:
