OMG...burnt food in my corning wear..help!

I just made scalloped potatoes in my corning wear cassoerole dish..the sauce and some of the pototaoes are just totally stuck right on...like they have become one with my dish.
How on earth do I get this off now...in 14 years I have never done this to my poor casserole dish!

I am not sure if you have Dawn dish washing liquid in Canand but...if you do try rubbing it full strength on the burnt spots. Let it set for a while--1 hour or longer. Then use a nylon pad and it may come off. HTH Deb

I've had corning for years, and before that my mom had corning. (My experience comes from about 30 years of using corning.)

Soak it in water overnight. That should loosen up the cruddy stuff. In the morning, try scrubbing off what you can, just with elbow grease. Then when you see what's left, try some CORNINGWARE Liquid Cleaner or Bon Ami®.

If you have a pot large enough to hold the dish, put the dish in the pot with water and baking soda and boil for about an hour, then let sit for another hour. This should remove the worst of the burnt on food. Then you can clean the rest with soft scrub, or soft scrub with bleach. Good luck!!

Try Dawn Power Dissolver. Just spray a little on and let it sit overnight. It works miracles!

In the meantime, if you don't have any Dawn Power Dissolver handy, I'd sprinkle a little powdered dishwasher detergent on the dish and sprinkle it with water, then mix it into a paste. Let it sit overnight.

Good luck. Corningware is usually pretty forgiving, just be patient.

I have never tried it - I don't have a flat top stove - but I have heard that the stuff you use to clean burned on food off the top of these stoves works well on burned on food on glass dishes. It isn't suposed to scratch because you don't want to scratch teh top of these stoves.
