OMG!Angry Cast Memembers and Picketers

I expect magical service at DL and for that I think the employees should be well reimbursed for their efforts. I hope everything is worked out (in favor of the CMs) soon.

As I was looking at the pictures of the picketers and their signs, it just made me really sad. Their signs saying "What about OUR dreams?" made me wonder if all those people who work so hard to make our visit a great one, can even afford to take their own family on a similiar vacation?

I don't know what the issue is, whether it's pay or benefits, but either way, I hope they get what they need and work so hard for. It's just an unfortunate situation for all involved.

Very well said. Unlike other boards (micechat, anyone?), it's nice to read a thread like this where the union-bashing is not the overriding tenor of the discussion. These are people who are trying to support families. I'm sure that they are not enjoying waking up vacationers, but it is one way to let Disney know that they mean business.

Im all for supporting the Unions, I was a member myself for Many years! And the min. wage is $8.50 an hour. Also, I was a single mom for 9 years, in the early years while going to school and working full time, I took the bus-and lived in an area where the public transportation was not that great. But as it turns out, it all worked out. Maybe those were different times??Im 39, so not a million years ago.:confused3 At any rate, it is a drag for those people, but I disagree wuth those tactics!

They are not taking away their health benefits rather they want them to pay a portion of it like $100/month. Fron what I hear, the rising costs of health care are second only to the rising costs of gas!

I think they need to be paid more for sure. But I've seen a lot of strikes based on still wanting free health insurance. Just isn't going to happen anymore, and I say welcome to what the rest of non-union folks have been dealing with for years. Paying a portion for healthcare, is better then not having it at all. So I can't sympathize with strikes over wanting it for free.

However more power to them on fighting to get paid more. But I would also not agree with waking people up at 6 am though and wearing the costumes. That's a bit much.
