OMG, am I really doing this?

I "retired" from work back in November. DH and I worked for the same bank and he does well, so I didn't hae to work anymore. Over the last month or so, I became very bored and decided to look for something PT. ($ goes stratit to my Disney fund) I got a job at TJ MAxx and I start today! I have never worked retail and for some reason I have begun to panic, BIG TIME. Put me in charge of Million $ accounts and I am cool as ice...make me fold shirts... . I am silly, I know it, but DH dosen't want to hear it anymore!

LOL, you'll be alright. Whatever you do, greet the customers as soon as you can.

We get mystery shoppers that check us, at least once a week.

We have a list of everything we have to do with the customers. If we don't do all of them, it counts against us.

Goodluck. It's not hard to do, but it does get tiring.

I liked working retail when I did. I found that when you are nice to customers, it makes them (mostly) be nice back.

Don't worry it's only retail. I be more worried about the mean old customers than anything.

That is my weakness. It is really hard to be nice to rude people even though I know that is what I am supposed to do.

YOu will be just fine!!

If you don't like it quit and volunteer at the hospital or a battered women's shelter.

Amen to that! I hate folding clothes with a passion. Don't mind the washing part but folding the clothes just gets on my nerves. Guess it's from working at Abercrombie for 3 years than merchandise at Disney for 6 months.

Nasty customers maybe a challenge, but not blowing my paycheck on the deals will be harder...oh yeah, I forgot to mention I am a shopaholic!

Just smile and be helpful and take what they give you with a smile. Not only will they be confused, but sometimes it makes them ashamed and they straighten up.
The one customer that scratched me a while ago, has been very nice to be since. She must think I make commission because she will go out of her way for me to ring her up instead of someone else.

Ive been in customer service (retail and otherwise) since I was 16 the best thing is to try to remember not to take anything personally. Right now I work for a Christian Org. and had a lady ask me what my first language was because I sure wasnt speaking english. I really took that as a personal blow but had to quickly realize that she was mad and I was the ideal person to throw insults at. The sweeter I was the angrier she got. (made me very happy!)

No, its Rockland. I am back home now just paperwork and videos today. My little part time job turned into 34 hours for next week, though.
