Does anyone know anything about the quality of the Today's Special Value that QVC has today? It seems like it is a good deal, but I know nothing about Olympus cameras and I can't find anything about the E600 online. TIA

E600

This is directly from the Olympus site. The 600 is basically the 620 less a few features.

I'm a huge Olympus fan, currently using the E510. Many people aren't fans of the Olympus 4/3 system because of the smaller sensor and the lack of accessory availability except online but I wouldn't switch

Hope this helps

Thanks guys! I saw that the 600 was supposed to be similar to the 620, but couldn't find any actual user opinions on it. I also know very little about Olympus cameras. May order it and if we don't like it, send it back.

I bought my e-620 from bhphotovideo.com I bought from the refurbished section and I love the camera, can't even tell the camera was used so maybe it was open box. When I bought mine it was about $620 for the body and two lenses, I think the last time I looked the price is about the same. The price was about 150 less than the new price. I would suggest you look at b and h's site because they have always been great, especially if you have questions because it seems like everyone I have always talked to actually has a good knowledge base regarding photography. One more plug for the olympus, one thing I really like is that it is smaller and lighter than the other DSLRs, so that really helps when you have to lug all kinds of stuff around the world. Hope that helps.

I really believe that before buying any dSLR system you should REALLY do your research. You don't want to make a decision you'll regret later, whether that's buying into a system you didn't know much about, or getting the wrong level of camera, etc. It's probably overkill for some, but I spent months learning about systems before I bought.

With that said, I did go with Olympus and I like it. You should read about 4/3 systems before you buy so you're sure it's something that suits you. It may not be for everybody.

I'm also not sure Olympus has the market cornered on "smaller" systems anymore, as they did a couple of years ago. Some of the other makers have introduced systems that are pretty small, also. Besides, once you start adding lenses other than kit lenses, what you're shooting with becomes pretty bulky. :earseek:
