hey everyone! i know a lot of you are probably as excited about the olympics as i am, so i thought i'd make a thread! :goodvibes

what'd you guys think of the opening ceremonies last night?

EPIC WIN CANADA! So amazing last night! A beautiful work of art:thumbsup2

well, i recorded it, but because of stupid time difference, it wasnt on until like... 2 in the morning? xD

im looking forward to the figure skating!

I thought it was neat. :)

BTW, I love the mascots. I want the plushies, they were so cute.

I'm excited for figure skating.

The opening ceremony was beautiful from what I watched.
It started at like 8 and was on until around midnight so I went to bed at 10:30.

I liked it. I liked the Parade of Nations (it's a geek out for me because I love seeing the whole world come together. I'm a dork), the projections on the floor, and the mountain scenes.

I didn't like the cauldrons, KD Lang (she RUINED hallelujah), or the opera singer.

My heart broke for the Georgian team, and I cried. Such a tragedy, it's horrifying how everything changes within a matter of hours. I'm glad that they showed and are keeping his dream alive. Betty Fox also made me cry, for personal reasons. Terry Fox had Osteosarcoma, and so did I. So it was emotional for me.

Btw, the Bermuda shorts guy - Tucker Murphy, was actually kinda cute. ;)

I recorded the first part of it because I wasn't home yet but the half that I did see I really liked. I thought the whole thing was beautiful and really set the tone for winter! Canada did good.

I didn't pay watch kd lang that much but heard her and she seemed to be too into it. The opera singer was bad. It was not good for me at all. I honestly didn't even notice the technical glitch with the cauldron but again I wasn't paying too close of attention.

I really loved the hats. :goodvibes

I recorded it because I was at the movies for most of it. I saw the end of it though. The torch was soooo cool!

The only thing I really like watching is hockey :D
But I'm watching the ski jumping right now.

I love the Olympics! I'm such a dork when it comes to them!!

I like the opening ceremonies. I cried when Georgian came out because of their loss..

and I cried when USA came out.. I just love my country so much!:lovestruc

*Famous Chant*

USA! USA! USA!

I thought it was awesome! I loved how they gave everyone in the audience lights, so they all looked like little stars :goodvibes
I also loved the part with the whales. THAT WAS SICK. The video-floor thing they had was amazing.

and as far at the technical malfunction they had, I think they worked around it well. I honestly wouldn't have even noticed if the announcers hadn't pointed it out.

I thought the opening ceromony was pretty awesome. They thing with the leaves and kilts and stuff was epic.

And Shaun White looked amazing <3

Im so pumped...Im a huge Olympic fan and whenever they come on I have to watch the opening and closing ceremonies. I thought it was amazing last night. I was kind of mad that Charlie Daniels didn't come out and show those guys how to play the fiddle. I also thought that it would have been better if they had Neil Peart(from the Canadian band RUSH) play an epic drum solo and then light his drumsticks on fire and thats how they lit the torch...lol. But it was obvious that Gretzky was going to be a part of it.

SO FAR SO GOOD

PS I love CANADA

just sayin.....shaun white is kind of a jerk. i used to be a huge fan until i found this out.

I loved the opening ceremonies last night and I'm here in canada now it's just amazing here :). The spirit of everyone is so high!!! But my event tommorrow(alpine skiing final) is cancelled till Monday so now we have 2 events on Monday and no events tommorrow...
Bt were going to going to go see if we can get tickets for an event tommorrow...

It was beautiful. The ice was awesome, all the stuff being projected on it. The First Nations thing was interesting. I loved the fiddling, it was something that was very East coast (or Maritime, some people seem to think Ontario is the East when it's very much CENTRAL Canada). I think bagpipes would have made it even better.

The only thing I didn't like was the tree thing, and the prairie thing. Otherwise, it was beautifully orchastrated. I loved that Betty Fox got to carry the flag and that Rick Hansen brought the flame into BC Place.
I will admit, I wasn't thrilled about Gretzky.
I also found it funny that Mïchaelle Jean opened the ceremonies. She is a symbolic head of state who represents the Queen. In other words, she is not our leader. I don't even think Stephen Harper was ever introduced.

I liked KD Lang. She can sing, but I don't care for Hallelujah... I also didn't know who she was, so I was debating her sex.

It's so weird to see how much the Western part of the country respects and pays homage to the first nations. Over here we think of them as poor people who don't pay taxes. I don't mean that I feel that way personally, but their culture is less evident.
Also along those lines is how much they spoke if the North. Something ridiculous like 90% of the population lives within so many miles of the US.
Nobody lives up North.

And I still find it funny that we're hosting games in a place that it doesn't snow. It's rainy and warm.

it was awesome. i loved when all the countries came out and those people on the sides in white were all dancing. there were two guys really getting into it lol. i loved Germany's jackets. i want one. and the Mexican athlete, andy himalaya, made me laugh. well, actually it was the comentator talking about him that made me laugh.

what i didn't like was that every tv station kept showing the footage of that guy dying. it was really in bad taste. they didn't have to show it that many times.

It doesn't snow in Vancouver? That's interesting. I always imagined it would have a similar climate to Alaska and Washington/Oregon, but then I also don't know if it really snows in those two states either. I know it does in Alaska (obviously). Idk, I've always wanted to go to Vancouver because I think the Pacific Northwest is probably a beautiful place to visit.

i thought the openng ceremonies were pretty. And I was so happy for Apolo Ohno last night when he won his silver medal.

I thought the opeaning cerimonies was really good.

I really wanted Team Canada's red mittens, the stores are out of stock online right now, also you can print out papercraft versions of the olympic mascots on their website.

I cant wait for snowboarding to start!

Well it does technically snow, but it doesn't snow in great abundance. It's usually fairly warm for the winter, and it rains a lot. Vancouver isn't very northern.

The red mittens are absolutely the warmest mittens I own. HBC did a really good job this year with our gear.
