Olympic Eating With Team GB ** COMPLETED - WDW & DCL**

Sam, we never used to go to a park on our last day either. Always went to DTD for the day, then spent the last couple of hours bored and ended up at the airport too early and bored. Now we always go to a park on our last day. We do online check-in or DTD check-in, get rid of our bags, then head to a park (usually DHS), stay till early afternoon, then have a late lunch at Friendlys before heading to the airport. We always book the latest possible flight home (usually about 8.30) so don't need to be at the airport until 6ish that way. It's a great way to enjoy the last day :thumbsup2

Same here!
Lufthansa only offers one flight to Frankfurt and it's a pretty late one too, so we head to a park early (often even do Epcot and MK), spend the day and have a really late lunch at WPE before heading to the airport! Ends the trip on a high (the parks and food - not the airport :rotfl2:)

Nooooo! The end of another amazing report from Linda. :( You did a great job, as usual. I can't help but notice that you haven't reviewed your cruise food though. WHY?! It's ok, I'll settle for a road-trip report! ;)

Awwwww... It's over already? :sad1:

Fantastic reviews as always Linda! Your sandwiches from Paddock Grill look delicious, but that carmel apple puff pastry dessert at La Hacienda De San Angel... Oh my gosh. :cloud9:

Thanks again for the wonderful reviews. :goodvibes

I did manage to devour half of it I was 4 months pregnant and had hardly eaten due to morning sickness I was so hungry and it was so good!

(Sorry I dont have a before picture like I said I was so hungry!)

We normally get the 6.30 one to Manchester. This year we fly home on New Years Eve and will still have valid SW passes - so might give it a try depending on crowds :) (Our WDW passes will have expired :sad2:)

awww no.
Ive been keeping up with your reviews, just came back to read your last day-wish I hadnt.
This week Ive been thinking of how much id love a cheese danish. Now you go and show a close up picture.

Oh well, gotta pay for furture trips

Loved reading your reviews! Thank you so much for sharing! :thumbsup2

You are very welcome !

I was feeling pretty sad as I read your last review, and then I came to this line. Sooooo funny!!! I love your sense of humor! :rotfl: Your final installment was a great one; you definitely sprinted across the finish line. (Do you like that running analogy? ;))

And congratulations on completing another FANTASTIC and YUM-TASTIC (I like your new word :)) dining report! :worship: How long will we have to wait until your next one? :worried: Hope it's not too long before you see the mouse again...the two-legged one, that is. :thumbsup2

Oh, and by the way, I think maybe your DH's muffin was trying to grow Mickey ears??? But I guess now we will never know for sure. :lmao:

I'm glad I made you smile, especially if you were feeling down in the dumps ... that's what the DIS boards are for right? :goodvibes

It's over? But I just got here!:confused3

Loved your reviews as ever Linda - we also like to got to CHH as our last meal!

I am intrigued by the cheese danish - it gets such good reviews. So it's sweet? Like a cheesecake? Might have to try it.....

The filling is kind of like a cross between a cheesecake and a custard type filling - not overly sweet but totally yummy :cloud9:

Ahhhhh Linda.... here's my sad face :sad1: since your review is over. I'm going to be watching and waiting for your next trip so I can celebrate another WDW dining experience with you. let us know if you decide to do your road trip review or even your Fantasy dining review.... would love to hear more.

Thanks so much for reading along. It's going to be a long time before I am back in the World so I will be ready and waiting for your reviews :thumbsup2

Very nice review!

Thanks for reading along :thumbsup2

No, another review is over. :sad2: It was great as usual, full of fun commentary and beautiful pics. And at least you ended the review on a high note - I could happily devour everything in your last review.

Oooh, when are you going back again?. I am relying on everyone here to keep me going until my next trip

Great review, Linda! (as always ;))

Aw so sad its over... those Cheese Danishes are sent straight from heaven, I swear!! Looking forward to your next one :)

I have been dreaming about that cheese danish - heaven on a plate :cloud9:

What a great finish. We never seem to have time to go into a park on the last day :sad1: so it must be nice to end your holiday with one last visit. I think I would be clock watching too much :scared1:

Just like Joh said, we never used to go to a park on our last day but you just end up sitting around getting bored if you don't
We drop the bags at Virgin's DTD check-in and head straight to MK :cloud9:

Nooooo! The end of another amazing report from Linda. :( You did a great job, as usual. I can't help but notice that you haven't reviewed your cruise food though. WHY?! It's ok, I'll settle for a road-trip report! ;)

I just might, repeat might, post some cruise food photos, keep 'em peeled ...... :rolleyes1

Cruise Food Part One - May 12th 2012

Hey everyone :goodvibes

Is there anyone still there?

Thought I would give a little bonus content with some cruise food for those that are interested

Not sure how this is going to pan out so prepare for random-ness!

Nothing new there I hear you cry :rotfl:

I’m going to (hopefully) fire through these reviews pretty quickly

We were on the Disney Fantasy for May 12th - May 19th and let me tell you it was simply amazing :cloud9:

We both loved every second of this cruise and I have to say that on the whole the food exceeded our expectations

Right here goes .........

After we boarded the ship we headed straight to our stateroom and dropped off our bags before heading up to Cabanas for lunch.

b37c701a.jpg

We were on deck 10 aft so our location was perfect for popping up for food and drinks

Cabanas Lunch

This was my plate

I had a slice of cheese and tomato pizza, together with some mac and cheese and various veggies.

Everything was actually really good and nice and hot (I hate luke warm food) and I remember really enjoying the pizza

Here is DH’s meat feast

7a83be24.jpg

Meat, Meat, Meat and Starch

I didn’t note down what any of this was so I will have to leave you to work it out.

One thing I am sure of is that it certainly wasn’t the vegetarian option :lmao:

He did really enjoy everything, particularly the mashed potato which he went back for seconds of

Straight after lunch we headed outside to the adult area and visited the Currents Bar

e2c9aa7f.jpg

This was the drink of the day that I enjoyed during the sail-away party but I can’t for the life of me remember what it was ...... I’m off to a good start here aren’t I

Dinner on our first evening was to be at Enchanted Garden which was probably my favorite meal on our last cruise on The Dream

Enchanted Garden is a beautiful restaurant, and I love the menu options here

We were taken to our table and were surprised to discover that we were going to be seated on our own for this cruise

I wasn’t sure how I felt about this at first but it turned out to be absolutely wonderful for several reasons; first it meant that I could take photos of our food without disturbing our table mates, second we had the most perfect and attentive service team and genuinely looked forward to seeing them each evening and finally DH was lucky enough to have me all to himself

Eyes down .... here we go

8852e273.jpg

Bread Selection
Multi-grain Loaf and Country Current Bread with Chickpea-Garlic Purée

Pretty much all the bread we were served over the week in the main dining rooms was delicious and really fresh.

Sorry I didn’t get a photo of the chickpea & Garlic puree but believe me it tasted a hell of a lot better than it looked ;)

Here’s my appetizer

bbbf948b.jpg

Cucumber Garden Roll: Filled with Julienne of Carrots, Bell Peppers and Zucchini, flavored with Cilantro and dressed with White Shoyu and Lemon Dressing

A really nice fresh and light start to a meal

This was DHs choice

855e59ae.jpg

North Atlantic Lobster Ravioli: With roasted Garlic and sweet Basil scented Tomato Juice

He really enjoyed this and said that the ravioli was perfectly cooked and packed full of lobster - top marks from him for this dish

Onto our entrees and first up DH’s plate

bd688ff3.jpg

Caramelized Sea Scallops: With Roasted Asparagus, Sun-dried Tomatoes, and Pearl Pasta, garnished with caramelized Leeks and Veal Jus Reduction

He surprised me by ordering this as he nearly always goes for a meat option but he said that he wanted a slightly lighter dish; well he loved it and was pleasantly surprised at how well the scallops were prepared.

Everything on the plate worked really well together

Next up, here is my entree

36247a28.jpg

Glazed Portobello Mushrooms: With Brown Lentil and Parsley Sauce and Sun-dried Tomato Cream Drizzle

Don’t be alarmed by the radioactive ‘Incredible Hulk Green’ sauce  this dish was divine.

Vegetarian food can often be a little bland but this dish was packed with flavor and the sauce was wonderful

When we were ordering our entrees, our server had recommended the sea bass and just as we were finishing our entrees he delivered us a plate of it and said "you just have to try it"

6819f1bb.jpg

Pan Seared Sea Bass: With Fava Beans and Pea Risotto and a sweet Chili Glaze

Yep, he was right, we DID have to try it because it was delicious.

This fish was cooked to perfection and the pea rissoto was wonderful :cloud9:

Even though we had eaten one and a half entrees, we still had room for dessert

17688da3.jpg

Now this was DH’s choice and I can’t seem to find anything on-line that seems to describe the picture.

It looks like some kind of Meringue but I thought that he ordered the steamed buttermilk pudding :confused3

Whatever it is, he ate the lot :thumbsup2

I decided on one of the ‘no sugar added’ desserts

5e4afb4c.jpg

Strawberry Cheesecake with Whipped Cream and Fruit Coulis

I loved this cheesecake, light and fluffy with a gorgeous strawberry flavor

We both really enjoyed our evening in the Enchanted Garden and it was a great way to kick off our cruise :goodvibes

Coming up next .... Day Two (At Sea)

Thank you, Linda, for taking the time to show us some of your cruise food! It looks wonderful - I remember the delicious lobster ravioli and your drink looks pretty yummy to me (okay, got it all mixed up again ).
And the "fish" with the sweet chili sauce looks devine - gonna need to try this next summer! :thumbsup2
I thought your DH's dessert was some kind of Key Lime Pie. :lmao: But both desserts look yummy and I cannot wait for more! :goodvibes

So excited to see your cruise food reviews!! :cool1: DH and I love cruising but have never tried a Disney cruise. Now between your reviews and Karin's I'm thinking a cruise with the mouse will be in our future plans, LOL! Can't wait for the next instalment! :goodvibes

Ooh, yummy cruise food. What a bonus :thumbsup2

It's well over a year (almost 16 months) till our cruise on the Fantasy so I will make do with drooling over your food poics until I get my own ;)

I love dining reviews with extras! The sea bass does look like it was cooked perfectly...you can tell from the picture that is was moist and not dried out.
I have a DCL credit to use from last August when we could not take the planned Alaska vacation-you are inspiring me to use that credit very soon :)

yay more food :cool1:
Like you I dont like luke warm food-it has to be hot.
The fish looks very yummy :thumbsup2

Thanks for sharing some of your cruise food!! The presentation of the food is so lovely! As a carnivore I can totally appreciate your DH's buffet plate of food. :)

I always love the first buffet meal on the ship... I go a bit crazy even though they won't run out of food before I can fill my plate.

Sad to see your review coming to an end but then I was happy to see the bonus cruise food! Thanks again for the wonderful reviews - it's reviews like these that cause me to change my ADRs 100 times before our trip! :rotfl2:
