Is Olivia's a "hot spot" for DVC'ers to eat at? I am having a hard time getting an early dinner reservation there on 8/24 or 8/25. We have a party of 6.

Is this place a well kept secret that I knew nothing about? or is it that parties of 6 are harder to accommodate?

Olivia's has great food, but with a mediocre ambience - and it can be very noisy. We love it, but with a grain of salt, as the food is worth the visit.

I believe the dates you are looking for are during the free dining promotion.

That may explain it, but most folks at OKW would not be on free dining, only those renting from CRO.

I agree, the food is good at Olivia's! Maybe the secret is out.

They are, but I wouldn't figure that the people at WDW on Free Dining would be going over to OKW for dinner.

So maybe I should give up and just stick with my Portobello Yacht Club reservation. Especially for the atmosphere since we will be celebrating my mom's birthday.

I was about to post keep trying....I love Olivia's....but for a celebration...I would go somewhere with a better ambience.
Happy Planning

We always stay at OKW (our home resort) and eat at Olivia's almost every day. We have only had a reservation once in all the times we went. If you eat early in the evening you will most likely not have much wait. Even if you do have to wait, you can relax by the lagoon, have a cocktail and just take in the atmosphere. We love the place (even though you may have others who feel differently) We've never had a bad meal.
Good Luck on your vacation

3 friends and myself were able to walk-in for dinner Thursday night last week (6/26), there were empty tables.

They'll go anywhere they can get an ADR - and OKW is close to POR - with thousands of free diners looking for the elusive dinner ADRs..............

We are a party of 6 also going down 8/24-29. I had purchased the Dining Plan and had reservations for Olivia for Thursday 8/28. I had such a hard time booking anything close to the times I wanted. I have finally cancelled the dining plan. We will be two adults and 4 teenage girls and I don't want our 5 days there revolving around our reservations. We will not have a car and taking time out to get to our reservation, waiting for a table and having dinner is too much when you add 4 unpredictable girls' schedule.

Are you on the dining plan? Did you have a hard time booking? I am sure we won't have any luck that week with a walk-in - counter service for us.

Party of 6 and free dining - will be tough - did you try getting lunch reservations there instead? (that's what I had to do with my original plan)

We have always been able to walk-in to Olivia's for breakfast, lunch and dinner times. The free-dining really sucks for people who want to pay out of pocket or who are actually paying for the dining plan. We spent two nights at BCV after our cruise last August and we couldn't find a single place to eat dinner. The CM at the BCV check-in desk looked and looked and couldn't find a darn thing! It is really frustrating!

I've eaten at Olivia's twice over a period of two years. The first meal was wonderful, great service, good food, etc. The second time the whole experience was below average at best. Did not feel the meal was worth the expense or effort it took to eat. The temperature in the room was so cold, my wife drapped a throw over her shoulders to stay warm. It was cold and I am not cold natured normally. The service was below Disney's standards too. So poor, I'm reluctant to try it again. Going to Olivia's had more to do with convenience than anything else.

:sad1:

I wouldnt celebrate at Olivia"s because as others have said, the ambience isnt ideal. But I think for the quality of the food, the service and the price Olivia's is a hidden gem. We always enjoy a meal at Olivia's each stay at OKW.

I have never had to have reservatons at Olivia's!!! I am surprised!! The food is good and we eat there quite often during our stays at OKW!!!

Good luck...............but like other's have said, I'd go elsewhere to eat for a birthday celebration!!!

Well, we have decided to stop trying for Olivia's and stick with Portobello Yacht Club. We all like Italian and we've never been there before so it's a good opportunity to go.

I have to say, the two times we ate at Olivias I was not that impressed. The menu is mediocre IMO, the service was so-so and the atmosphere non-existent. We have friends though that raved about the place.

Per tradition, we always eat there the 1st night of our stay and usually will have a breakfast there as well. Over the years we've never had a bad meal there and the service IMO in no better or worse than any busy Disney Dining Destination.

It is also a hot spot for management lunch meetings:goodvibes The food is very good. The only thing I ever had that i didn't like was the chicken wings. They look like they came off a turkey on steriods:>)
