When I last left off, it was about 12:45am and I had just fallen asleep and was getting ready for an early wake up!
Date: Monday December 6, 2010
At 6:30 my alarm starting blasting it's unwelcome tunes to wake me up! I was still completely exhausted, but then I realized, hey, I'M IN DISNEY WORLD!!!!!!! I quickly turned off the alarm so Olivia and Toby could sleep a bit longer (and be out of my way while I got ready) and hopped out of bed.
*Let me just say, that if I wouldn't have known better, I would have thought that I had committed some horrendous crime and my punishment was sharing a bed with Olivia! Seriously, she is all over the bed, kicking me, pressing her feet into my kidneys, laying on top of me, twisting the blankets in to knots....it was a horrible nights sleep!*
I got myself ready pretty quickly and dressed nice and warm (I think the high this day was in the low 50s or upper 40s), and made my way to the beds to wake up my troops. I started with Toby first because I knew he is much harder to wake up, and would take longer to get ready. He mumbled some not so nice things at me under his breath, but got up pretty quickly nonetheless. After he was up and mobile, I went to Olivia and gently rubbed her back and she popped right up in bed and asked if we would see Mickey again today!
While Toby took a shower I got Olivia all ready and dressed for the chilly weather and then turned on the TV for her to watch while I finished getting ready. I took everything that was charging off the chargers (iPod, phone, camera battery, video camera battery, and laptop) and packed the phones, cameras and iPod into our park bag. Toby got ready pretty quickly, and with one final check of the room, we were out of the room at 7:10.
We made our way to Everything POP and filled up our mugs, then headed out in the cold to the buses. Just as we were walking up, a MK bus arrived! Yeah! We were on the bus and on our way at 7:17. I was hoping that since it was so early (and that we were the only ones on the bus), that we would be able to go right to the Poly, but no such luck, to the MK it was. After we got off the bus, we headed right to the monorail and hopped in a totally empty car and started on our way to the Poly, for a breakfast treat I had been dreaming about!
Now, if only things had continued to go so smoothly.... This would be the start of our monorail woes for the week. We went to the CR and picked up a few people and then to the TTC, picked up a few people, then it was on the way to our stop at the Poly. This is where things started to go bad. We stopped about 200 feet from the TTC stop and sat for a while. The announcement came on saying sorry for the delay, we have technical difficulties, blah, blah, blah. By now it was about 7:40 and we had 7:45 ADRs at Kona Cafe. Grrr! So we sit. And sit. And sit some more. We keep getting the annoying technical difficulties speech, as I watch our ADR time come and go. At some point on the the monorail ride from you know where I snapped a couple of pictures of Olivia
FINALLY at 7:55 we start moving!!! Yeah!!! The relief was only temporary, we were moving, but at about 3mph! At this point, I had given up being mad (where was that going to get me), and just had to laugh! Even Olivia commented on how slow we were going. We finally pulled in to the Poly just before 8:00 and darted inside to Kona. I went right to the check in line while Toby got Olivia out of her stroller and out of her coat. There were about 3-4 people in front of me in line, but it seemed to be moving quickly. Olivia and Toby kept themselves entertained by looking at the lobby from above
As soon as it was my turn I profusely apologized for being late, and then thankfully we were seated right away! I didn't even need a menu, I knew what I wanted! Toby on the other hand needed to look. I figured we would just share with Olivia for breakfast since it is literally a battle to even get her to eat breakfast at home. After a few minutes Toby was finally ready. I ordered TONGA TOAST and a diet coke, and he ordered steak and eggs and a coke.
*Another side note. This is about the point in the trip where Toby made it his mission to take every food pic that he could. It got to be quite comical after a while! This is coming from the man who made fun of meal less than 24 hours earlier for taking food pics!*
Our food came out pretty quickly-yeah!
(I told you he became obsessed! He took a picture of EVERYTHING that was brought to the table from here on out)!
So, what did we think?
Toby really enjoyed his meal immensely and said he would order it again in a heartbeat. He said the steak was cooked perfectly, the eggs were just right (not too dry and not too runny). Olivia ate some of his eggs and biscuit (eggs are pretty much the only thing I can get her to eat for breakfast), and she said they were "deeeelicious"! My Tonga toast came with a side bacon (I ordered it for Olivia since she could probably eat her body weight in bacon if I let her), and once again the verdict was "deeeeelicious". I also shared my toast with her and she didn't like it at all! I, on the other hand thought it was YUMMY! There was the perfect combination of bread/banana/cinnamon sugar and it sure hit the spot. I was not a big fan of the strawberry sauce on the top, I thought that made it too sweet. It was really good on its own, but all mixed together it was too much for me.
I took Olivia to the bathroom while Toby settled the bill. It was $35.52 and we tipped $6.00
Overall impressions: We would definitely come back and eat breakfast at Kona! The service was really good, and the food was delicious!
By the time we were done, it was 8:45 and we bundled back up and hopped back on the dreaded monorail for a (hopefully) quick trip to the MK!
