We are thinking about travelling through Olivia, not sure if we'll do a cruise or to a resort etc. Just wanted to see what the overall feeling was in terms of quality and value. Thanks for your help.

We just got back from our third trip. I would be happy to tell you what i think about it. However I will have to do it later because is yelling at me to finish the garden (it is a rare day off for both of us). So when she leaves for football practice i can sneak back onto the computer.:thumbsup2

Sorry unexpected family drama last night…..

Olivia.

It is pricey but it doesn’t have to be. I have noticed that if you are not picky on rooms or even where it is you are going there are many last minute deals to be had.

The sense of community is amazing. You are the norm on board, you do really “feel free”.

Every activity you do you feel like you are doing it with friends. On other cruises when we go on excursions for the most part nobody talks to each other, but on Olivia everybody makes friends.

The entertainment is usually very good.

Some concerns:

There is not a huge amount of different ages on board. But when you do get a different group together the stories are amazing. Last cruise a group of us (25-33 in age) were sitting with a group of ladies (my guess 68-85), The history and stories and feelings!! Just overwhelming.

Another concern, I think the staff thinks a little to much of themselves. Most people do not have this view. However I think the night owls do, because that’s when the staff is doing their partying. I am sorry but I really feel they are there to work and to make my vacation better.

Would I do it again? Defiantly!
I have made some of my best friends on an Olivia cruise.

Thanks for the info. We are a little bit older ( 38 and 40) and looking to do some travelling in a more "free" environment. We have always loved Disney for that reason, but would like to branch out. Don't get me wrong we are die hard Disney Girls and will continue to make our semi annual pilgrimage, but would also like to do more travelling. I think this is something we will try.
Did you find the Olivia staff a problem?

Disney has nothing of what you feel on an Olivia cruise. Sounds corny but true. After one trip we went to Disneyland thinking it would be a good transition into "real"life, we were so wrong!

We still do Disney at least once a year. Its just different. On Olivia you do not have to think about what you are doing or who may be hearing what you say.

The staff, well you can tell a difference b/w the old staff and the new. However if its your first time you wont notice. We do get along with most but we might be to much of a group of partiers for them. For example at the white party they threw on board (by the pool) they 1. had no music from his century and no gay music (the dj informed us she was not allowed to bring any on board?) and 2. We got yelled at for jumping in the pool..... I mean come on we are on Vacation! And 3 (and this might make me sound bad) when were hanging out at the beach I don't really think the staff should be too. Especially moving things and making things better to acomodate them.

I still would totally go! I think the average age is (if i would have to guess) 40's.

In 2006 we went on the Olivia cruise to Alaska. This was our first trip with Olivia. We had a wonderful time and met a couple of gals from Oahu that I now consider close friends. We even went to visit them in Hawaii last year.

It was fairly pricey, but I think worth it. The ability to be yourself without a second thought was liberating! We enjoyed meeting up with our new friends every night at the Crow's Nest lounge to talk about the excursions we had been on that day. It was definitely a good time!

Let me know if I can answer anything for you. :)
