Oldest DS had a scary incident on Monday

Monday afternoon my oldest DS (12) was riding his bike around the block, when a car approached him. The guy cracked the window and told him that his "Mom was worried about him and wanted him to give him a ride home." He told him to get in the car. Thankfully my DS just kept riding and came home and told me what happened and I called the police. I was freaking out so bad. I can't believe something like that happened to my DS. :( I'm so proud of him for coming home and telling me what happened, and I thank God that nothing bad happened to my DS.

We had always told the boys what to do if something like this happened, (never thinking it really would) and we have a password, so they know that if the person doesn't know the password, we didn't send them for them. Thankfully, my DS was listening.

Please, please, please, make sure you talk to your children about what to do if this should happen to them, and set up a password system with your kids. My DS is very fortunate that this turned out with a happy ending. There are many kids who are not so fortunate. :(

 I hope the police find that man.

{{hugs}}, Sherry. You have a very smart son.:) I'm glad he had a happy ending to this, and that he listened when you told him what to do.:)

Thank God you had the forethought to teach your children caution when it comes to potentially dangerous situations like this.

That's one less Amber Alert for us this week....... :teeth:

That is one of my nightmares. WE can only hope that our kids are listening to us and will never have to face incidents like this. I'm glad your son did the right thing!

THAT IS SCARY!! I am so thankful that you were cautious and your son was listening!

OMG! Sherry how scary! I would have flipped out as well. I think that password is a GREAT idea and I am definatly going to talk to J.C. about what happened to your DS when he gets home! {{{HUGS}}} I'm so glad everything is okay!

I agree, that "password" system is a great idea & we will implement it as soon as I'm finished typing this post!

Your son did a great thing by using his head. He was very smart in getting away & telling you about it as soon as possible. As soon as I read about what happened, I told my DS in hopes that he will remember that these kind of scary things can happen to boys just like him!

Kudo's & Hugs to your DS (& you)! Thank you for sharing your story too Sherry. I think this is a very important message that we all need to share with our children now that they'll be out & about more & obviously more vulnerable to sicko's out there.

OMG! Thank goodness your DS is ok and that he did the right thing. I guess kids do listen to mom and dad.

I'm going to read your post to my DSs, I think the password idea is great.

{{hugs}} for your son and you.

That is terrifying. Thank goodness your son knew better than to trust that man.

This is an excellent and timely reminder for us all.

Im so glad he is alright, there are so many sick people all around us

How frightening!!!!!! So glad to hear all went well for your boy. Sure would be nice if all these jerks were behind bars.

Very scary. I'm glad he's okay and knew what not to do. Thanks for the reminder. I will be having a talk with my DS.

Thank goodness you talked to him and he knew what to do, Sherry. I hope they find the creep.

Sherry, How terribly frightening! I hope your DS was able to give the police enough information to be helpful in apprehending this person sooner or later. It's no wonder kids don't play outside like they used to when I was younger. The world has become a much scarier place for our children!:(

*bump*

TC, DS wasn't able to see the guy, he only cracked the window enough to talk, and his windows were tinted. He didn't know the make/model of the car, but they got as much info as they could from him. I hope they find this creep.

What a horrible experience. I hope no one had any nightmares last night.

We use the password also. We also change it a few times a year.

My DD will be four next month. I would love to use a password, but I'm scared that she would give them the password. What age do you think would be good for this? THanks!

OMG Sherry! I have butterflies in my stomach just thinking about it. Thank the good Lord he remembered and did everything he had been taught! {{HUGS}}

And thanks for the password idea...I never thought of that and I am going to pass that info on to DS and DIL TODAY!!!
