Older Teen Activities

My son and his girlfriend are coming with us for out August trip. He is 20 and she is 18. I see The Grove has a teen night - with valid ID, but my son is not a teen - can he still go?

Also, if the adults go to a nightclub, can we take these two with us into the club. We just want them to be able to dance and enjoy the entertainment too. And, of course they will NOT drink alcohol.

I'm pretty sure Teen Night is only 14 - 19 years old, and I'm pretty sure they wouldn't let anyone else in over that age to prevent awkwardness and to protect the teenagers.

According to http://media.universalorlando.com/newsreleases/detail.aspx?id=233 it's 15-19. As an 18 year old myself, there are tonnes of things to do for older teens. CityWalk has generally a great atmosphere at night sometimes with street performers and bands playing.

I'm also visiting in August! What are your dates? I believe the first half of August have longer operational hours, so they may be tired from a day out in the hot Florida sun anyway.

Marley's welcomes families dining at the tables, we've lingered afterward for hours with tween & teen son without issue & enjoyed the house band but we kept to our table & none of my party hit the dance floor.

The clubs check ID and cover charges kick approx 8 or 9 pm. I doubt they'd admit a minor even with parent. Age rules for most clubs is to add a layer of protection to avoid getting hit w/underage drinking violation & so that the overworked bartender/waitresses don't have to keep checking IDs. If your adult-looking kids are in the club, then it would be assumed they've been carded & good to go. I'm not suggesting they would try to order a drink, it's just standard way reputable bars operate - everywhere.

Citiwalk is full of fun stuff to do for teens, let them go their own way to discover it for a few hours and i'm sure they'll report they had a great time.

It is just hard with him being 20 and her being 18. I think they will have fun no matter what. And, just thinking, they may be too tired from hanging in the parks all day long, they may just hang out in the pool or go to bed.

There are a number of clubs around Orlando (particularly downtown) where 18+ is allowed but I don't think CityWalk is one of them. And on most nights, there is NOTHING outside at CityWalk going on that would kill even a couple hours unless they're going shopping. (Live bands do happen but relatively seldom).
