DH's boss has 2 four day passes to WDW that are non-expiration that he and his wife used 1 day on each. He doesn't want them anymore and told DH that he would give them to him.

Will we be able to use them or are they somehow tied to him and his wife?

Thanks!!

It would be nice, but tickets are non-transferable. You would not be able to use them.

Tickets are technically non-transferable, however, if the tickets are old enough they are not tied to anyones finger or hand impression and they can be used by others.

It all depends on the age of the tickets.

Thanks! How old is that? These tickets are about 8 years old.

I don't remember exactly. You can ask the boss if they had to do a scan when they used them. I am sure there would be info online if you looked as to when Disney started doing that.

I'm the first one to agree that all tickets are non-transferable, and with the finger scans they are linked to the one who used them first.

But the reality is that they don't always use the finger scanner. When we went to the MK in August, we were using tickets from 2008 that had one or two days left on them. Not one of us was asked to use the finger scanner...no one in line was, as a matter of fact. They just swiped the tickets through the machine and in we went.

The scan was unreliable at least 3 or 4 years ago and who knows if they have even stored last year's data that long. If I were given those tickets as a gift, I would certainly try to use them before purchasing other tickets. If the boss wants to be paid for them, I would pay them only if I successfully used them. If entry can be gained the first day, they no doubt would work on the subsequent days.

I have some old tickets from 1993 which will not be a problem. We have some from 2003 that I believe were fingerprinted. Hope we can use these.

I think it would be fine. I would certainly try it before buying more tickets.

I had some unused days a friend gave to me and they not only let me use them but they let me apply those days towards an AP I was buying.

I go with the non-transferable answer. The fingerprint scanning started early in 2005, I believe. But Disney states they are not transferable. Selling partially used tickets is actually against Florida law, but I realize you're not talking about paying for them.

However, aside from that fact -- you need to look @ how many days you are going for as well.

Those are 3 day tickets, and they will not be able to be upgraded or added to in any way (tickets cannot be upgrade more than 14 days after first use, and pre-Magic My Way tickets cannot be upgraded - you can check the Ticket Sticky in the Theme Parks board for all the details).

So if you are going for 3 days and want to risk it, feel free. But if you are going for more days, it may not make a lot of sense.

If you were going for a week, you would still have to purchase a 4 day ticket for the rest of the days - that will be $247. A 7 day ticket only costs $263. That small type of savings would not be worth it to me to try to use someone else's tickets.
