I have an old paper ticket that we are pretty sure has some days left on it. We will not be going to WDW until Jan. but I have a friend going in Sept.

Would it be okay to have her take my ticket and 1) find out if there are in fact andy days left on it and 2) if so have her turn it in and bring me back a new updated ticket?

I was not sure if she would have to sign something or what they would require. I just want to be sure that we will be able to use it.

An old paper ticket would most probably have date stamps on it, so it would be pretty easy to tell what was left. No date stamp means no days used.

I would wait until you got there to turn it in.

We used up the last day on an old three day ticket from 1983 just last week. They stamped the ticket with the current date, and mentioned that they don't get too many of those anymore.

The old price was $32 for a three day pass to MK and Epcot.

Seems like buying Disney tickets gets you a better return than any interest in the bank these days!!!

To make getting FastPass and re-entry easier, it is strongly suggested that you exchange your old pass for a magnetic version (straight exchange, not an upgrade = no charge). At MK (except in very very rare cases) the turnstile CMs will not accept old admission media and will ask you to exchange it at the Guest Relations window. The other parks are supposed to do the same, but many times they do not.
If all the spaces are filled with a date stamp, your ticket is used up.
If you have an old ticket with a magnetic stripe, you can check the number of days left at the Guest Relations Window.

You can have your friend bring it with to find out what the value of it is and not turn it in... this way you'll have an idea of what it's worth when you do go for your trip.

I did this with my mom's AP voucher she had from 1994. I brought it to guest services and they did take about 10 minutes to find out what the value was but I wouldn't have wanted to turn it in (I couldn't anyway because she had to validate it with her ID), but it also would have started that day.

Turned out she had an old FL season pass voucher from 1994 which cost $99 then with longer black out periods then than what they have now. The cost at the time of our trip for that same pass would have been $189. I thought she'd be able to use the voucher toward a purchase of a new pass, but she was actually able to exchange that voucher for a FL seasonal AP and not pay any difference! What a deal!

You're right about that, Safari Steve, at least from our experiences. We had old paper stamp tickets from 1987 and 1989 which we used last month. MGM-no problem, no exchange. Epcot-once no problem, once CM offered to exchange, but DS said he wasn't going to use FP. Only MK told us to exchange before we entered.
