OLD THREAD: 2012 Beach and Yacht FAQ, Part 2- May, June and July DON'T POST HERE!

You have nailed it, thats exactly what has been going through my mind! I told DW that she needs to understand that while we all love WDW, we are there for the kids. And if DS6 wants to ride carousel of progress (which for some strange reason he insists on doing) we're going to do it. DS7 loves to ride spaceship earth and he will ask to ride it every time we go past it, and typically we do! I fear even if she is initially into it she'll start to complain about doing the same "kiddie" rides over and over or why we would be waiting 90+ minutes for soarin'....um because it's awesome! One of the things she said to me was that DW could take the boys to do some smaller rides while her and I did the "roller coasters". DW typically doesn't like the thrill rides, she'll suck it up for the kids, but she does enjoy the rides at Disney. She loves the themes, the details, and they are on the tamer side when compared to most parks. I told DISL that our boys ride everything. The only ride they haven't done is RnR (due to height restrictions which this year looks like they'll be able to ride). So I'm guessing she thinks it's more like Busch Gardens where they have multiple coasters that you have to be very big to ride :confused3 . I don't know, maybe she'll be on board and it will all go well and I'm just over thinking it.

I just had a trip with family, and NM just nailed it. As long as you and DW are on the same page it will be fine. I did all the planning, and made a ton of sacrifices to my plan for the good of the group, but luckily we traveled in May and the crowd levels were quite low so it was much easier to go with the flow. The kids from both families wanted to ride the rides together, which made everything more challenging for us to follow NMs advice. Of course, the other family tried really hard to get up early and follow our schedule too, which helped a lot. We came home just as close than when we left, which I am pleased about. Boundaries and family alone time during the trip helped as well!

Ahhhhh snow.... Although I live in one of the world's prettiest places, depending on the winter, this is not uncommon:

Yeah, but you're driving a reindeer driven Canadian sleigh with power wipers and heated runners.

Us poor folks in the lower 48 are driving our Honda's and Chevy's with the bald tires in the snow!

Warning! The following includes Beach Club Content! (Kitty Carry All sold separately!) Oh look at that! My Beach Club Ticker is at 4 months and so many weeks. I better get crakin on reserving that lounge chair at Storm Along Bay!;)

We are a little more than 5 weeks away til our free dining trip at BC :) So excited! We do have a question tho, and this is a very important issue.... ;) Where is the closest QS place where we can find Mickey waffles? (just QS..all our TS credits are spoken for). And we will have a car so I guess we could go to a resort food court? Is there a nicer food court or place in a park for them?

Thanks so much for any info

Here's a link from one of my favorite websites! Looks like most of the Values and Moderates have them at their food courts, plus Captain Cook's at the Poly. There's also a mention of Roaring Fork at WL and Contempo Cafe at the Contemporary.

We love Mickey Waffles! and can't wait to have some ourselves!

Gearing up for our first Beach Club stay beginning Sunday (our first non-WL, non-Poly stay and we're psyched!) and have a Mousekeeping question.... I've always just left money on a pillow each morning but DD15 has finally decided that Mousekeeping envelopes are not "lame." She made an awesome one, but my question is:

Do we re-use the same envelope every day or should I take advantage of her newfound artistry and have her make a different envelope for every day? Not sure whether the Mousekeeper takes the whole envelope or just the tip.

On a related note, we're proudly delivering a couple of Dinosaur BBQ sauce gift boxes for the CL concierge staff (we're from Syracuse, NY, so our options were salt, basketball t-shirts or local BBQ sauce). The boxes total less than $75, so they can accept them, right?

All replies are appreciated!

Cheers,

Dave

Boski...I lost the quoted text, but I did want to say I feel for you. I have a really hard time with folks who don't understand the need to PLAN a vacation (any vacation, not just a Disney one, but ESPECIALLY a Disney one!). I hope your DSIL is willing to go with the flow. I, for one, have to do this with my husband, even-yu-I plan on taking the boys to every EMH I can (they are 6 & 10, so getting up early is the norm for them!), and then we'll touch base with DH by phone later. That keeps everyone happy. ;)

I am lucky and DH shovels but I love snow days! For the first time in 9 years of teaching in Michigan, we did not get a single one last year. It was WEIRD

I know, right?? It was a crazy winter here. We have a New Holland tractor we bought years ago that we affectionally call "Big Blue," and sadly Big Blue only got one use last winter...and even then, we could have waited a day and it would have all melted. I do, however, think it was the perfect year to take up walking and then running in the winter. ;)

The Princess will be my first half. I have a chance to do one in October but I want Disney to be my first so I am just doing a 10K then!

So exciting! I must admit, I secretly dream of doing the Princess Half. :goodvibes

Just wanted to say hey to fellow MA, NH residents (natebenma...etc.). I hope you're all safe, not too soaked and free from damage. My town just had the first tornado warning I can ever remember. It went as quickly as it came, and thankfully my actual town was spared (the tornado formed right on the coast and went out to the ocean quickly), but wow, those were a few scary minutes!

Glad you're all safe! We get those tornado warnings way too often here...they ARE scary!

This made me laugh out loud! Great picture!

:rotfl2: You crack me up! Based on your ticker, though, I think we will just miss each other in December. You're arriving the day after I'm leaving. :sad2:

I'm getting so excited about my trip. I saw in the paper today that the mayor just made my husband's paycut effectively immediately :( , but reading this thread has really cheered me up. I have told the boys that when I say, "No we're not buying that" from now on, it's non-negotiable, because every dime we save goes into the Disney fund. They are being very understanding, and to reward them, I am going to let them sit down with me this weekend and help me choose our Quick Service lunches for the trip. I love being able to plan with them--it makes it more fun for all of us!

Just wanted to celebrate with you all that today I received my "Mickey Mail" and luggage tags AND my Photopass Plus CD case with my voucher, etc....it was a double bonus.

I'm so excited!

I have to ask, however, in the booklet it lists all of our "extras" including our refillable mugs, but doesn't mention our tickets or dining plan. Is that normal? I feel like in the past it describes everything we purchased, including all the components of our package.

Also, not sure how I feel about the new psychedelic Mickey tags...I think they give me a headache looking at them!:)

You'll need a different envelope for each day you leave a tip. The mousekeepers take the whole envelope. You can always tell when one gets an envelope as they dance up and down the hallways singing "I'm in the money!" ;). I always put in English and Spanish writing that the tip is for the maid.

Can't answer re: Club level. Never been that high.

So...another PP plus question. I have to get my PP+ card when I get to WDW with the voucher they gave me in order to use it on the rides and at the restaurants. I know there is a PP location at the Beach Club.....is anyone there now, or does anyone here know if I can "activate" it at the BC and get my card there? Or do I have to do it in the parks?

Sorry if this is confusing!

YIKES it was crazy!!! I was in a meeting at the State House in Boston and all of a sudden all of our phones started marking these weird noises. We looked and everyone had a message to take cover there was a tornado warning in our area. My Swedish au pair who has only been here for 2 weeks was walking to the T to go pick my daughter up at camp!:worried::worried:I got her on the phone when she was almost to the station. I told her to stay underground till it passed.

CRAZY afternoon!!!:scared1::scared1::scared1:

Hope all the other New Englanders are ok

LOL!!

I will tell you a bed time story.

Once upon a time there was a beautiful Princess. She was so excited because she was going to HER castle the very next day. At night as she lay in bed she dreamed of all the things she packed, like her princess swim suit and her tiara. She dreamed of floating in a giant Princess swimming hole as legions of handsome, prince like attendants brought her naughty drinks and low calorie snacks. At night the skies filled with fireworks just for her and during the day buses and boats arrived as soon as she did at their stops.

Then one day the evil doers at the bank called and said her funds were running low and she would have to return to reality land. "NoooOOOOOoooo!!!!" screamed the Princess but it was to be so. As she boarded the "Magical Depress" back to the airport she vowed one day that she would be back!

The End!

(In case some of you are wondering why Ninja Mom has flown off the handle with some of her posts tonight, I'm supposed to be filling out school paper work for the kids for next year. My eyes have crossed and my brain has melted so I am 'procrastinating' with the Dis boards!)

As long as the gift you give the CM is each less than $75, it's ok. So it doesn't matter how many there are. Each CM can receive a gift of up to $75 from you. That's very very thoughtful of you!!!

I believe you can. I'll tell you what happened to me and this is what I'm basing my guess on. When we stayed there I "misplaced" our PP card. DW wasn't pleased and feared all pics were gone. I went over to the PP location and talked to one very helpful CM. He asked what park we were at that day, where we had some shots taken and around what time. He pulled up a bunch of pics around that time frame and we scrolled through and found my family. He could then pull up our card number and issued me a new card. (I think my words to him we're "thank you, you just saved my life"). So I think you will be able to activate and get your card there.

NM, good luck with those forms. Hated doing those things.

I'm stuck at home today with a sick child (sickness bug doing the rounds at school - and only two days to go!) so having a quick bit catch up whilst she is entertained by the washing machine - where I have just put Simba and bear in with a load of towels. :rotfl2:

I'm working an extra day this week: tomorrow (Friday). Looks like I'll have loads of Disers there to say hi to. Can't wait!

We were thinking of bringing a few home-based gifts to the CMs also...but being from Masachusetts, I can't seem to figure out how to get the lobsters through security......:rotfl:
