Boski said:You have nailed it, thats exactly what has been going through my mind! I told DW that she needs to understand that while we all love WDW, we are there for the kids. And if DS6 wants to ride carousel of progress (which for some strange reason he insists on doing) we're going to do it. DS7 loves to ride spaceship earth and he will ask to ride it every time we go past it, and typically we do! I fear even if she is initially into it she'll start to complain about doing the same "kiddie" rides over and over or why we would be waiting 90+ minutes for soarin'....um because it's awesome! One of the things she said to me was that DW could take the boys to do some smaller rides while her and I did the "roller coasters". DW typically doesn't like the thrill rides, she'll suck it up for the kids, but she does enjoy the rides at Disney. She loves the themes, the details, and they are on the tamer side when compared to most parks. I told DISL that our boys ride everything. The only ride they haven't done is RnR (due to height restrictions which this year looks like they'll be able to ride). So I'm guessing she thinks it's more like Busch Gardens where they have multiple coasters that you have to be very big to ride. I don't know, maybe she'll be on board and it will all go well and I'm just over thinking it.
I just had a trip with family, and NM just nailed it. As long as you and DW are on the same page it will be fine. I did all the planning, and made a ton of sacrifices to my plan for the good of the group, but luckily we traveled in May and the crowd levels were quite low so it was much easier to go with the flow. The kids from both families wanted to ride the rides together, which made everything more challenging for us to follow NMs advice. Of course, the other family tried really hard to get up early and follow our schedule too, which helped a lot. We came home just as close than when we left, which I am pleased about. Boundaries and family alone time during the trip helped as well!
