Happy birthday Princess Lily! And Mike, too!

When we're at BC in August, my sister and her family will be staying at the Wilderness Cabins. We're all going to meet up for the Spirit of Aloha luau at the Poly. What's the best way for me to get to Poly from BC? Also, have any of you been to the luau? I've read some so-so reviews, but we thought it would be fun event to get the families together...

Fastest way to the Poly would be by cab.
Otherwise you have two choices.
First: boat to Hollywood Studios and bus to Poly.
Second: bus to Magic Kingdom and RESORT (not express) monorail to Poly.

I have a third way - stroll through Epcot, hop the Epcot/TTC monorail out in front of Epcot, then @ TTC either walk over through the Poly grounds to the Luau or switch monorails to the resort monorail @ the TTC and get off @ the Poly. I like rides, boat rides best, monorail rides next best, bus rides not so much. This works especially well if you are planning to hang out in Epcot that afternoon anyway.

I'm already thinking about a 2013 trip (and that 2014 cruise I mentioned a few pages back), and (1) YC/BC may not be in the budget and (2) we like to try different resorts, so we're thinking about where we might like to stay next year if we can go back.

So far we have stayed at POFQ and CBR. Loved POFQ, not so much CBR.

If budget is the issue, then I like Port Orleans ... either Riverside or French Quarter. Not a fan of Caribbean Beach or Coronado at all. I've stayed at all of them. If budget is not an issue, I love the Grand Floridian too.

If you couldn't stay at the BC/YC or BW then that is a tough call. Years ago we stayed at the WL and we really didn't like it. Small counter service area, small pool area and a little dark for our taste.

In regards to Moderates I personally think that CS is closest to a Deluxe as you are going to get. I swung by there during my last conference and I thought it was really nice.

For a moderate either POR or CS and for a value AoA (LM) or POP.

We are a family of 3 adults and our favorite moderate is Coronado Springs. The resort is lovely and we like the pool and dining options. They also have a really good bus system. Second would be POFQ as we find POR too spread out.

For deluxes, our second choice after YC/BC would be Boardwalk followed by SSR and OKW which have a nice, relaxed atmosphere.

I also am not a bus fan so we did the walk through Epcot and then monorail trip last time!

I hope I don't have to dodge any bullets for this, but have you considered the Swan and Dolphin? You're truly getting BC/YC quality rooms at a fraction of the price... And you're staying right next door!

Some disappointing news Baby boy's adoption won't be happening before our trip...thought we'd be celebrating with the whole family @ WDW but it wasn't meant to be. It will still happen, God willing, but we just won't be able to celebrate "officially" this trip. Great excuse to plan another trip...like I need an excuse!


But....we will have something else to celebrate!!!! My son is proposing to his girlfriend!!

Post 13: Community Page and Be Our Guest list

Hey guys! I'm looking for a bit of help, I've booked two nights at the YC as a surprise to celebrate mine and DBF's anniversary. We are staying in Orlando for 16 nights but off property for the majority. I am trying to think of a cute way to surprise dbf with the yacht club stay. Should I write it in the card for his anniversary? Or do something more special? Has anyone taken someone to YC as a surprise before?

May we add you to the Be Our Guest List on Page 1? What are your dates?



Not really sure about the surprise, but you could wrap up some small things (a toy boat or steering wheel, beach sand for SAB, salt water taffy, sailor's cap) and make him guess where you are staying.

I'm getting pretty excited. We were in town last week so we decided to stop by and tour the resort. Its even better than I was expecting, we loved the pool and the little beach! We even went up to the desk and asked if we could see a room, then someone took us up and showed us 3 rooms. It was great!

I am in a fantastic mood! While gathering my non-exp WPF tickets, I found $45 in Disney Dollars in my drawer! Woo hoo!

I was also trying to plan which park to go on what day and I decided that we needed PH's. The tickets we ordered were from the YES program (which I highly recommend)

Which Y.E.S program(s) are you doing? In June, we did Energy and Waves at MK and Science of Imagineering at HS. I am writing about them in my trip report.

Oohh..... I just realized the kids and I can do what I call the Johnson Family Disney Amazing Race.....going to all 4 parks in one day. I wanted to do this last year but encountered resistance from the kids. Well, this year we are doing it!

I have done 4 parks in a day, but not the 4 major (theme parks)...

Animal Kingdom, Blizzard Beach, (Boma), Hollywood Studios, EPCOT

I have great news to share! My waitlist for December came through for a whole week in December! I can't beieve it came through at all, let alone this early. But, I am really happy. We are headed down with friends for the first time, and their DD has never been to Disney. Hope they like it as much as we do.

Teena - hope my family will get to meet you this year. We check in on a Sunday, so hopefully we'll see you.

On page 1 I see this:
The tubes are $3 for 1 hour or $10 per day.
Are these the tubes for the lazy river? I have a feeling that river will be inviting for me!

We are CL and our flight does not leave MCO until 7:30 pm. Are we able to use the lounge on our checkout day even after we officially check out?

Yes, all around!

The tubes are for the lazy river. You can also use noodles in the lazy river (purchase for around $4 or $5 each) or you can just float around.

Depending on the time of day, you can sometimes find "abandoned" tubes in the river.

Yes, you can use the lounge on your checkout day, even if you have checked out.

Don't forget the lockers/showers in the Health Club as well if you need to freshen up.

Thanks for all the suggestions! We're hoping for a Bounceback when we are there in Oct. That trip is a big celebration of having paid off all our debt, and while that puts us in a much better place financially, one reason that we can afford to go all-out Deluxe is because I won some money earlier in the year which covered a huge portion of this trip. I also know that within the next year I'm going to have to get a new car, so that will mean a car payment again. So we may not be able to swing Deluxe...and while we might have the $$ in savings, I don't want to touch that as we need our rainy day fund, of course, and because we want to move and buy a house in a few years, so I really need to leave that untouched.

So...we might end up going back to a Mod, although AoA does have its appeal. And of course, we could end up with a good deal on Deluxe, so who knows. I just really like to hear everyone's opinions on the different resorts.
