OLD THREAD: 2012 Beach and Yacht FAQ, Part 2- May, June and July DON'T POST HERE!

We are off to WDW next Saturday! Still have some shopping to do with my girls. Finding shorts for teen girls is difficult if you want them to actually cover their bottom. I think I am going to have to do laundry unless we can find several more pairs for each of them. Is bug spray something we need to bring if we plan on being at the parks late? If you can think of any other unusual things that we should pack can you please share them with me.

I have always brought bug spray wipes with me, but we have never used them! We always go in September and the only bugs that I have ever noticed are the love bugs, and they're just a nuisance.

I always figure that if I bring them and don't need them, then they're my insurance policy!

I agree with cindydare's advice. We have gone to Florida the same time as you are going the past 3 years and the only time I needed the wipes was when I watched the fireworks from the Poly beach one night. When it got dark, there were some nuisance bugs. But I have never needed bug repellant at the parks or at the BC resort.

Question about the new RFID locks: have they already be installed at the BC? And, does anyone know if a similar system is going be/already has been installed at any of the other hotels? Not that it matters for us, as we still have almost 2 months before our visit. Just kind of curious.

As pp said, yes, they were actually installed when we were there 2 weeks ago. We came back from our room and they were doing the 5th floor. They did all the doors except the President's suite which I thought was strange but I am sure they have done it by now. The people installing it actually waited to make sure it worked with our keys. It was nice.

Live report update:

Today rocked. Walked to Dhs this morning and was riding TSM by 8:40 . NO wait. The. We hit RNR and TOT and finally GMR before heading back to BC . Was at SAB by 10:45 where DH and I hung out until about 4:30 enjoying that lazy river. Showered and sat on the balcony before headin out for the daily stroll around the world where I tried a cream cheese pretzel for the first time.yum:)I also had to show some restraint in Norway since I love the Helly Hansen stuff. None today. We then strolled around the boardwalk before stopping in the BC marketplace for sone flatbread pizzas which we ate onthe balcony.

Tomorrow we eat at Yachtsman for the first time:thumbsup2

That's a lot for one morning!! Let us know what you think of the Yachtsmen, we had an amazing meal there last time!

I just got my Mickey mail!!!:woohoo::banana::cheer2:

I'm still trying to figure out why my kids looked at me weird when my hubby gave it to me?!?:confused3 Might have been the little dance I did!!:lmao:

I can't wait to see all of these little changes going on. I'm even excited to try out the new RFID locks......I know, I'm a geek. Wish I was on the lazy river right now with this 105 degree day!

Wishing everyone safe travels that are on their way and continued good times for those that are still there!!

You sound like me! :) We got our ME stuff yesterday and I was so excited, the rest of the family thinks I'm insane. :lmao: I swear I need to borrow someone else's kids to go with me, nobody even cares anymore!!! :sad1: But oh well, I will have fun and really isn't that all that matters??? ;) 35 more days!!!!!!!!!!! :cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1:

Hi everyone!!! This is my first post. :yay: I have been a long time lurker of this website and of course a long time Disney fanatic! I love this thread and have read all 117 pages. So much info. My family and I are planning a visit to the BC next year. We are planning on staying club level and I have a question for you experts. Is there a specific menu rotation of the nightly hor d'eouvres offerings or is it just random? Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

:welcome: to the DIS and this thread!

I am not aware that there is a specific rotation of items available at club level on any particular night.

Hi Laffites,
Welcome back! So glad you had a lovely vacation. Was there a Bounce Back offer in your room? Was it for dates in 2012, or were some some dates in 2013 included?
I totally agree about Epcot, there's really nothing like being able to walk there. :goodvibes

I have not seen any mention of a BB including 2013 yet. There is a picture of the current BB offer in the FAQ post on Page 1

We'd love to entertain the "Noodles" when we are there July 8-July 14th if someone would be willing to share? I promise we won't ask them any personal details about their former hosts!
Let us know, I may have to shop for some hostess gifts! ;)
Thanks,
Seversons

:welcome:

I will add you to the Be Our Guest list on Page 1. Which resort?

:cool1:

Someone has signed up for the noodles for your date. I'll put you in the backup slot, but you will have to contact the people who reserved them if you want to ask about a sharing arrangement.

Hi all!

Our family leaves in 20 days for our first stay at BC! We. Can't. Wait! We are spending four nights at BC and four at CSR. Each of our WDW vacations have included a stop at BC for a Kitchen Sink at Beaches and Cream. We would look longingly at Stormalong Bay as we waited for our table. This trip, our dream becomes a reality!

We are staying in a Water/Pool View room. I'm hoping we have a view of Stormalong Bay or of the lake.

Thanks for the great thread!

:welcome:

:yay:

Would you like to be added to the Be Our Guest list? What are your dates?

Five months for us:banana:

May I add you to the Be Our Guest list? What are your dates?

:woohoo:

Are you just taking applications for kids, or are you willing to have enthusiastic adults come along for the ride???

Would you like to be added to the Be Our Guest list?

Yay!! Someone else who understands my insani......I mean LOVE of Disney!!:rotfl: Don't get me wrong, my kids still love our trips to the world but they are at the "we're too cool to act like that" stage. DD has her entire wardrobe planned for the week we are there and each outfit is themed to a Disney character so I know the love is there!

And I'll be counting down with you!:dance3:

So excited. We are renting points for the first time and the Beach Club is our destination. We will be staying April 15-13 in a deluxe Studio. We did Boardwalk last time but Storm Along Bay look just too nice to pass by.

Sure :) Add us for 8/4-8/11 BC CL :)

I just got the DIS app for iPhone! This is awesome!!!! This is really going to make my live trip reports so much easier to update.

I know I just posted. Does anyone have pictures of the fitness center. I'm a very active weightlifter and want to see what I will have to work with. The Boardwalk fitness center was great last time I was there.

I just got it for my iPad, it is pretty cool!

Do you think it's better than viewing the page in safari? I really have dont have a problem using my iPad to surf this forum (in fact using it right now ;)) so I'm not sure I want to give it a try. Now I do use the app for my phone (android).

Here are a few pictures- I don't have them posted on Page 1, because they come from other websites.

Here is some assorted info from past guests:

Health Club- from Arkansan
The Health Club is between YC and BC along the outdoor walkway that connects the two resorts next to SAB. It is near Beaches and Cream, the hair salon, etc.

It has basic equipment--treadmills, stair climbers, ellipticals, bikes. There are lots of free weights and weight machines. There are several ab things to do crunches with, etc. and mats for stretching, yoga, floor work. I'm sorry, but I don't remember if there is a rowing machine.

There are two locker rooms with lockers and showers. There is also a hot tub and some massage rooms.

There is an attendant in the room from about 6:30 am-8? pm or so. If you want to work out at a different time, you need a special key card NOT the KTTW card/room key. It is separate. You can get it from the attendant when he/she is there or from either the YC or BC front desk.

It is a nice facility. I've used it on 3 trips. Very clean. If there is a conference it can get busy during weekday mornings from 6:30-8 or so, but I've not really had a problem getting to use equipment or anything. DH and I switch off--one of us goes and the other stays in the room with the kids, then we switch.

Have fun!

from IBCNU-

The only time I was in the fitness center at the YC/BC was to walk through it to get to the lockers on our last day. We stored out bathing suits and a change of clothes there for an afternoon swim in SAB after the parks.

This is what I found:

Fitness Center and Spa

The Ship Shape Health Club is located between Disney's Yacht Club Resort and its sister, Disney's Beach Club Resort.

This fitness center and spa features massage therapies, body treatments, skin care and hair services, and men's and women's sauna and steam rooms.

State-of-the-art fitness equipment by Life Fitness and Hammer Strength includes treadmills, ellipticals, stair climbers, regular and recumbent bicycles, weight machines and free weights.

Open 24 hours a day.

An attendant is present from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

For club access beyond attendant hours, meet with an attendant to sign a waiver and obtain a 24-hour access key.

Resort Guests must be 14 years of age or older to use the health-club facilities. Guests 14 to 17 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or a guardian.

A personal trainer is also available by appointment, for an additional cost.
____

Found this bit of info:

If you are not staying at one of these resorts and would like to use a workout center, you may do so by paying $12.00 a day (subject to availability.) Please note that if you schedule a spa treatment, you may use the fitness center that day for no additional charge.

We will be there 7/19-7/23. Woo hoo! 19 more days!!!!

If you are around we're having a mini BC/YC Dis Meet on 7/22 at 6:30 pm in the Solarium. You'll get to meet our resident celebrity - Teena!

Well the graduation party is done, ds's birthday party is next week and two weeks from today we leave!

Just a quick note - there has been some confusion. I am Disneymomx7, NEVER Disneymomx8!

It seems way faster! No emoticons though but a nice interface.
