OLD THREAD: 2012 Beach and Yacht FAQ, Part 2- May, June and July DON'T POST HERE!

Ok. Y'all will understand.
My son is getting married next Saturday evening. I'm the best man. Around 425 had RSVP'd as of last week. 'Only' 80 expected at rehearsal dinner. As father of the groom I have been told it is up to me to give the toast/introduction at the dinner....How does this sound?

"OK folks. Let's get this over with. This ceremony is all that's standing between me and a week at the Beach Club!"
:rotfl:That's hysterical!:rotfl:
We will be at BC at same time, you'll have to let me know how it goes over.

Hi Teena,
We will! Checking in on August 4-11 at BCV. Sorry, don't post much..just a lot of lurking and reading the boards;)
Taking the whole family, except our oldest as she just graduated from law school and about to start her first job.

We had high hopes that this trip would be a celebration of our little foster baby's adoption, but alas, it may not happen in time. Praying that it happens soon. We are having a family portrait session done on Monday August 6 as planned(Hard to miss us as we'll all be wearing white and khakis, much to the older kids horror!) I did not order a special cake yet but may do so. Yacht and Beach Club private dining did an awesome job on a custom cake for my daughter's 21st birthday in December.
Hope to meet you at some point Teena!:) We will be spending a lot of time at the shallow part of SAB and Baby Boy would love to make a new friend:goodvibes We look forward to meeting your Princess Lily and you can meet our Princess Lilly!

Kerri

Kerri ... it's a date. See you at the shallow part of SAB starting Tuesday AM!!! Unfortunately I won't get to see you at the family portrait. Since Jeanne and Lily are in town, I took off that Sunday and Monday.

I agree totally, since I want to see Teena too. Teena, can we email Richard?:rotfl:

Ryan

That would be sooo funny. I can see Richard's face now as he tries to figure out why he's getting emails from strangers telling him to take off July 4th!!

I saw Chobani in the marketplace for $1.99 (I remember commenting that it was double the cost of my local market, yet still not as much as I thought it would be. Our $3.50 box of cereal at home was $7.00, so maybe everything's just doubled ;)).

Overall more helpful than the CR IPO but I might not have known what to ask for from them and with BC IPO I had the ideas before talking to them if that makes sense

Now that makes me curious...do they REALLY have separate IPO offices? When they called yesterday, the caller ID said Disney's Contemporary Resort...I was so confused at first.

We all been thinking about you Teena. :grouphug: Sure hoping your foot gets better!

Here, here! :grouphug: Teena.

This time in two weeks we'll be in Colorado starting our dude ranch adventure. I've already started packing. I can pack for a cruise in 30 minutes. However, this dude ranch has me really thinking. Cold nights so flannel pjs, we have to bring flash lights since its lights out at a certain time (they run everything on generators apparently). Gotta figure out where my boots are hiding too. Maybe two weekends off from work will help my heel!!

I suspect it is VERY hard to figure out what to pack for a trip like that! But how fun!!

"OK folks. Let's get this over with. This ceremony is all that's standing between me and a week at the Beach Club!"

Best speech EVER!! :rotfl2:

I know! Darn me for looking at that menu. :lmao: It does sound good, doesn't it?! I'm going to have to just go ask and order one (three) of those and maybe one of the flourless chocolate cake slices if they'll indulge my take-out dessert fantasies. :rotfl:

I love the way you think! ;)

Sounds good to me!!! :lmao:

And might I say that I've never heard of a dad as best man before. That's awesome. You must be a great dad!

I second that...what an honor!

The way I hear it works is that there are about three or four IPO offices. We definitely have one at the Y&B. However, if their phones are all busy, I've been told the calls will go to one at the Contemporary or other IPO offices. I know one of my friends that works in IPO on occasion says she gets guests that are staying at all the deluxe resorts because of "overflow". If you get the name of a certain IPO CM that you know is at Y&B and you like, you can always leave a message for that particular CM to call you back. Hopefully whoever you talk to and leave that message with will get the message to the appropriate CM. Or you can always tell the Y&B CM that you really want to deal only with them and ask them for their own personal Disney email address.

Teena- you rock!!!

Hope your shift at the Beach Club is not too painful today.

Also hope you get to meet some of the DISers who are there now.

Have a great day!

Since we leave in 72 hours for Disney and I have to somehow finish the school year, do report cards and pack my room for summer cleaning I decided I should start packing (usually I am like Teena and 30 minutes is plenty).

As I was grumbling over the fact that the diapers for DS are taking up over 1/2 a suitcase (between swim ones, overnight ones and enough regular ones for 7 days) I realized something----Diapers create room for DISNEY stuff to come home with with! Once he uses all the diapers I have plenty of room to bring back anything I want! One upside to our last Disney trip with a non potty trained kid!

I will be checking into BC next Saturday (right around the time of MickeyT!!) so if you have any missions for me, let me know! I am happy to take on any challenge!

Now off to the trip report!

That's actually a pretty good upside! :rotfl2:

Thank you so much for the explanation, Teena! I really don't think it will be a problem...so far, everyone I've talked to/emailed with has been great! Patty was the one who called me yesterday and she was wonderful! She seemed so genuinely thrilled to actually get a hold of me so she could take care of my ADR. :goodvibes

Hey all! As I've posted before, my DH, DS and DGD (14) will be at Beach Club for the first time July 21 through July 25, then go over to Universal for three nights. I will be staying at the hotel mostly except for going to Epcot one evening (problems with heat and walking a lot), but the others will do the four main parks. DS is heat sensitive, DH is not but is almost 73 ... so I'm making them take a four-hour break every afternoon. From looking at historical, hourly temps on weather sites, it would seem the hottest time is from about 2 to 6 pm???

What have you found to be the case? Also, on these hottest days, is the water in the pool cool enough to be refreshing in the afternoon? Thank you all; this is a WONDERFUL source of info, and you've been so helpful already.

We went in August we found that we left that parks between 1-2 and then went to dinner about 5-6 (so we were done between 6 and 7 or so) and by then it was PERFECT. Also we found the pool very refreshing in the afternoons! We did a pool visit each afternoon  and the kids had a blast (though we were not at SAB)

Teena- hope you are not in much pain today.

Dee - nice pics!

We just switched from the GF to the YC CL. Although I am sad to leave my beloved GF I am very excited about staying at our second beloved YC again. 16 days to go.:cheer2::woohoo::cheer2:
Just noticed your ticker. We did almost the same set up on our last trip - BLT/BCV, except backwards. It's a great split! Hope you enjoy it as much as we did. :)

That's what I thought. I even called my TR a "BC Trip of a Lifetime". But I'm already planning to go back in 2014! :goodvibes
That's what we said in 2009 and we've been back every year since. :cool1:

Love it! Congrats to your family!

I called the BC IPO about a week ago and one of the staff from the GF IPO answered. He said BC/YC was in a meeting and they were covering. He did everything I asked for and I got email confirmation immediately. They were wonderful!

I am hoping all goes the way you want it to go! Celebrate anyway, you don't need special papers to celebrate what you know to be true. :wizard:

Love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love that men are asking Dad's to stand up for them. My oldest got married in September and asked his brother to be his best man and my DH (his father in all but genes) to also stand up for him. DH is an old fashioned man so while he was very very honored he thought it was odd. We told him that he needed to get up to date! ;)

Enjoy your son's wedding day!

So anyone going to be there during my short mini vacation with Princess Lily (August 7-10)?

ME, ME, ME:yay:
I arrive on the 8th with my DH and 2 boys. MY BIL and his family arrives on the 7th. We will be spending lots of time at SAB so I hope that I get to see you and your little princessprincess:. MY boys are 5 and 7 so we will be in the kiddie pool:thumbsup2

We are back from our trip to the Yacht Club.

Our first Disney resort stay and the club level and this Disney resort ROCK!

We had a blast...The service was great, the room was great and the food and beverages in the club lounge were excellent!

I am now trying to figure out a way to get back as soon as possible. :)

My wife and I agreed after walking around the two sister resorts that we made the right choice for our family. The beach club was OK but way to much noise and the "vibe" was certainly different.

The first part of our Disney stay was nice too...The Swan is certainly a nice resort as well, but we can't stop thinking about the club level and the convenience it offered us.

Thank you for doing that, Mike! Please don't go out of your way or anything-- only check if you happen to be there anyway! Very nice of you. :goodvibes

I saw Chobani in the marketplace for $1.99 (I remember commenting that it was double the cost of my local market, yet still not as much as I thought it would be. Our $3.50 box of cereal at home was $7.00, so maybe everything's just doubled ;)).
So glad to hear this! Hopefully it is still the case. I live in a family of health freaks, so I was especially hoping that Greek yogurt would be available. And you are completely right about the prices. ;)

The day has arrived :cool1::cool1::cool1: for our trip to Disney! Not looking forward to the 17 hour drive but really really looking forward to vacation. I sense a nap sometime today if I ever get all the packing done. I seem to be walking around in circles. :confused3

Hope to see you tomorrow Teena and hope the feet aren't acting up too much today already!!!!!!!

Have a great week all!

We always go in July and usually hit the parks at rope drop and then back to SAB either right after lunch or have lunch at Hurrican Hannah's. We don't go back until dinner time.

If you are interested we are having our 3rd Annual Mini BC/YC Dis Meet on July 22 at 6:30 in the Solarium. You can meet our resident BC Star" Teena and hopefully other Dissers. Check out page 1 and you'll see the pictures fro the last two years!

Dee - can you add Lauren "Magical One" to the Dis Meet?
Thanks!

Mike - have a magical trip!

I took my daughter during labor day weekend, it was terribly hot and muggy. But we did pretty much the same thing. We would go to the parks as soon as they opened stay til 12-12:30, head back to the resort (Contemp at that time), eat lunch swim and then possibly a nap or just relax til dinner. We would be back at the park around 6 or so, it worked out great. Sometimes we'd take a quick dip before the park as well. Just keep hydrated and cool.
