Does anyone know where you can get the old style Minnie bridal hat? We had it for our honeymoon 4 years ago and were planning on getting them for our friends and just don't really like the headband that everyone buys now (especially non-married guests). I appreciate the help. Oh, I've tried looking at eBay and came up empty. Thanks.

Unfortunately, Disney stopped selling the beanie style wedding ears about 2 years ago. The only place you would probably be able to find them is on ebay, so keep checking there (you never know when someone is going to list them).

I did want to mention, though, that you can now "customize" ears at Le Chapeau in the Magic Kingdom (check out this LINK).

While that's not exactly what you are looking for, it's closer than the headband...

Hope that helps!

I actually saw someone wearing one last week, I assume they got if off ebay. I had to do a double take because I have not seen that style in quite some time. But I agree with you on the headbands, they are not comfortable and I have seen way too many girls (under the age of 10) wearing them. But I have also seen this with the top hat ears, kids wear them too. My mom wanted a pair for my nephew, but they only come in adult sizes.

have you thought about making them??

when i saw the rhinestone ears & the price...i said NO WAY...SO...i made them, see......

maybe you could get a pair of ears & somehow "fabric paint" them & then get some tulle at the fabric store...you could do it!!!

I don't think I have ever seen the old style minnie bridal hats. Does anyone have a pic of one?

I didn't like the headband either, so we made these:

Might be a fun craft project for you! :thumbsup2

Lurly - Those are fabulous !!! How did you attatch the ears and veil to them???

I think this may be the only way that I can get Lee to wear any sort of grooms ears :rotfl:

Rip away! We got so many comments and compliments on them, I think there's really a need for Disney to fill, and the more of these hats they see, the more they might consider making official ones.

Plus, as you said, guys are WAY more apt to wear a ballcap than the silly top hat they sell - it's too small for many guys and it doesn't keep the sun off.

For the groom ears, just buy a cheap-o set of classic black mouse ears and cut them off, leaving a bit of the material at the base of them. We made slits in the sides of the hat and pushed the fabric left at the base of the ears through, then covered it on the inside of the cap with black felt that was affixed using Barge, an industrial-strength adhesive they use to put soles on shoes.

The bride ears were trickier and more spendy, cuz you have to buy that headband. DH removed the ears, trim and veil, and then affixed the ears to the ball cap the same way he did the groom ears. It's harder because of the sequins. Then he used Barge to affix the veil and trim at the top.

Hope this helps! :thumbsup2

Just had a thought that you could use the black basic ears and paint/spray them white to match the hat.

My friend was so worried that they would stop selling the old bride ears that she bought a set over 2 years before her wedding. She was glad that she did!

When I made mine, I used the "super thick" craft foam to make our ears.

I used some old ears I had laying around to trace for the shape and just cut them out. While the cut was a little "rough" you can use ribbon glued around the edge to hide that. You can get really fancy with it, or just plain old grosgrain.

hiwaygal - I didn't know you made ears too! Maybe we should have a thread about how to make them and we could all share ideas and pictures. :goodvibes

I made headband ears similar to what you can buy. The only reason I did that was because I have a big head (not sure if I should admit that or not:lmao: ) and was concerned about the headbands being too small (little kids wear them! ). So I got a headband that was comfortable for me and made the ears. DH wore the tophat style even though they were tight for him.

I had considered making ears like you did (on the baseball caps) but I don't really do hats well (look like a goof wearing them).

Yours came out looking really good and I think have a much wider appeal!

I LOVE those old school minnie ears! I wish they still sold them. I wonder why they stopped..

I think I am going to rip this off from you as well. I keep seeing in different posts and the more I do the more I love them over the headband!! :rotfl:

So, I have a quick question, where do you find just the mouse ears? At a store like Michael's??

Thanks for that info.

I feel a project coming on..................

One question..How did you attatch the white ears as they come on a headband and not a hat where you can cut the fabric of the hat around them?

Carrie you are the best so I am not going to totally rip you off. Just the idea. I don't want to spend so much on the bride ears, so instead of the sequin ones I bought ears that are pink (I love the color) and will find some scrap tulle and create the same look.

I think as long as the hat says bride they will still know and I know there are other mouse ears that look similar to the bride headband. I ordered my ears from ebay since I do not live close enough to either castle. I don't think Disney stores sell them either, please correct me if I am wrong because if they do that would be great to know.

Hopefully my hats turn out half as good as yours Carrie.
