Hi all!

We have been to Disneyland several times.

One of the interests of my son is 'old' rides.

We have visited the website 'yesterland' and saw that some of the old ride structures are/may still be there 'hidden' by trees, etc.

Is this true?

If so, what and where are they? We are going again this Decemeber and may make looking for these part of our 'fun'.

Thanks.

Not sure what you mean by "ride structures." Please clarify?

Cool - thanks Disney4us2.

gmi3804 - That is what I was looking for...reminants of the old rides that may exist

thanks

I am only a Disneyland newb having only been once thus far, but I wanted to say thanks! because I didn't know about the Yesterland site and really enjoy it!

Whilte they might not be "structure", I saw really cool old ride stuff and park stuff along the track at Autotopia while drivng around.

Near the end of the ROA boats, you can see a Nature's Wonderland train. Also a tunnel from it's old path. Rainbow Ridge's building are now part of BTMRR. Also as you go around the river on the east side is a waterfall and peak that still remain.

In Tomorrowland you can see the old raised platform the the People Mover and Rockets Rods used.

There are lots of tributes to old rides or part of rides placed in thier replacement attractions too.

The mechanism for the original Rocket Jets ride is still there, up on its pedestal in the middle of Tomorrowland, but it's been turned into a "revolving sculpture"; on the same pedestal is where the Peoplemover used to board/unboard passengers. And, as a previous poster wrote, the Peoplemover tracks still wind their way over & through Tomorrowland.

Star Tours is in the old Adventure Thru Inner Space building; the walkway inside the front of the building where one lines up to wait is the same walkway that was in ATIS, although it has been rethemed. (Or, at least, it was still there in the original Star Tours...I've not yet been on the new one.)

The Winnie the Pooh ride is inside the old Country Bears theater building...if you turn around & look up on the wall when going through the Heffalumps scene, you can see 3 of the singing animal heads mounted on the wall.

I'm sure there are more, but I can't think of them right now

When you ride on the Finding Nemo submiarines there is a nod to the original submarine ride that used to have a sea serpent in it. There is a stone structure in the shape of the sea serpent head. :)

In Tarzan's Treehouse there is a sign on the steps saying "Mind thy step," and there is also music at the end -- both from the original Swiss Family Treehouse. (Also, the route for the treehouse is reversed - we now exit through the old entrance.)

The Nature's Wonderland Train has been removed and as far as I know it is in the archives. But yes two tunnels that used to be part of Cascade Peak are still there, and a service tunnel that was east of the paint pots remain as well. Some of the rock work of Natures Wonderland is near the entrance to Big Thunder Ranch. The little buildings you see on Big Thunder were the buildings from Rainbow Ridge. Just as you head south from Big Thunder Ranch there is some false rock up a hill to the West that I believe was part of the Natural Arch Bridge from the pack mules, or where a mechanical bear used to move and stand, I will try to confirm that. The pile of horse shoes at Big Thunder Ranch were from the Pack Mules and the little ponies from the Canastoga Wagons, Surrey & Stagecoaches. Last time I was there a Surrey was parked in Big Thunder Ranch as well. A few years back near the entrance to Tomorrowland where Tink signs autographs there was some of the foundation from the Monsanto's House of the Future, that might be gone. Did you want to know the dinosaurs & cavemen within the Grand Canon on the Disneyland Railroad were part of the Ford Pavilion for the 1964 Worlds Fair? Lets not forget about the fish that continue to jump where the old trestle used to be for Natures Wonderland I forgot if that is Beaver Dam or Bear Creek just west of Big Thunder. does anyone know if there is still a keel boat in the Rivers of America? Fort Wilderness no longer open to the public but still there. How about the old parking lot south of Disneyland I understand they built a park there now. Just kidding DCA is OK. I am sure I will come up with a few more if you want them.

When exiting the Casey Jr. Train, I can see the station of the old sky ride.

On our last trip, we had just exited Casey (DS's favorite ride), and there was a little girl looking at a gate across from the bottom of the exit ramp. The gate is kind of hidden behind a snack cart where they sell drinks and the like. She asked her parents what was up the stairs behind the gate, and they said they didn't know. I couldn't help but chime in and say "Those are the stairs that go up to the old sky ride station!" The little girl just kind of gave me a dirty look...I guess she wasn't supposed to talk to strangers. But I just couldn't resist sharing a piece of Disney history with her!

In the Indiana Jones ride, in the movie room when u are waiting in line, if u look up and to the left way way back if u shine a flashlight, u can see the eeyore sign. I believe this used to be the "eeyore" section of the old parking garage. If a ask a cast member in that room, they might use their flashlight to show u the sign.

In Indy Jones where you queue through the room where they have the movie clip - at the very back of the room above the bamboo railing is the old Eeyore sign - since this is where the Eeyore parking lot used to be. Since the room is dimly lit it was hard to make out - a CM helped us see it! I've seen somone post a photo here in the past, sure wish I remembered the post. :)

Since the thread is likely deviating from this, I though I would post to a large thread with all the little interesting things in DLR.
Disneyland Secrets

I suppose the Doom Buggy ride vehicles now used in the Haunted Mansion are left over from Adventure through Inner Space.

The fireman's cart in the Main Street Fire Station was once a ride, now just a photo opportunity.

Now many people call the attractions rides. If you specifically want rides this would not qualify but the Mile Long Bar once listed as an attraction and now is part of Pooh's Corner store in Critter Country. While we are in Critter Country the covered bridge you cross to enter the Pooh ride was left over from the Country Bear Jamboree.

The Dinosaur bones in Big Thunder Mountain along with many other tributes remain from Nature's Wonderland.

On the North East side of the Matterhorn near Finding Nemo & Autopia there is a long covered sitting area leading out into the water, that was a loading area for a short lived boat ride. The name escapes me. Was it Phantom boats? There was another boat ride as well that was in the Autopia area. Sorry the name is not coming to me.

The rotating floor in Innoventions is still there from the Carousel of Progress.

I heard that the robots you see in the queue for Star Tours are the skeletons they used for the America Sings attraction. Some of them even still have webbed feet. One in particular, if I remember correctly, is the one scanning luggage.

Just wanted to comment on the above.

Adventures Through Inner Space opened in 1967, and Haunted Mansion opened in 1969. I don't think that the omnimovers are leftovers from another attraction since both were operating at the same time through 1985.

The boat ride was the Motor Boat Cruise, and it was hardly short-lived. It opened in 1957, got re-branded to the Motor Boat Cruise to Gummi Glen in 1991, and then closed in 1993 when Toontown opened. The loading area is still there as a smoking area.

The Phantom Boats were very short-lived...only a year or two right when the park opened. But they were in the lagoon where the submarines are now...not over by Fantasyland.

Thank you Mary Joe, My comment defiantly did not belong on this post and I certainly did not explain myself well. Apparently the Omnimovers currently used in The Haunted Mansion were once in Adventure Through Inner Space. I am not sure if they were added to, or replaced the originals in the Haunted Mansion attraction after the closure of Adventure Through Inner Space. It's my understanding it was the development of the Omnimover built for Adventure Through Inner Space that halted The Haunted Mansion from being a walk through attraction to what we have today. Please disregard this one it does not belong here.

Just wanted a chance to apologise and explain myself.

Sorry everyone, carry on.

Thanks, I knew it was a loading area for boats. That's why I had the question mark. I wonder where the Phantom boats went? Good facts, thank you.
