Old nonexpiring tickets and genie +

I have two old legacy non-expiring tickets. I have heard that I can just purchase genie + at midnight the night before I plan to use it. I have also heard that it is a problem with the old tickets. Does anyone have a first-hand experience trying to add on genie to old non-expiring tickets? I do have them loaded in mde. Thanks!!

My husband and I each have two- 5-day ph tickets with an expiration of 2036. I spoke with a CM a few weeks ago about adding Genie+. She assured me we wouldn't have an issue. I am not 100% confident that everything will go smoothly.

We had old non expiration, park hopper tickets bought..... 5 years ago? It's been a minute, Anyway. When we went in Jan 2022, we of course used those tickets. The day I wanted to use Genie+ it was very easy to add in the appt.
On the app, if you click on the three lines on the far right on the bottom, the profile page I guess you'd call it. Click on My genie day, scroll to the bottom, in a purple box, click "get disney genie+ for the today". I just put in a park reservation for the 14th just now, and it is letting me add genie + for that day.
I don't think you have to wait until midnight of the day to do it.

Once they've been converted to the new system and you can see them in your MDX account, they shouldn't work any differently than any other ticket.
