What is the best way to doe the following:

1. I have a 7-day non-expiring ticket that I want to convert to a DVC annual pass.

2. I am taking my 15-year old DGD and want to buy a DVC annual pass for her.

Thanks for any assistance.

You should be able to use the non-expiring ticket for the upgrade as long as it has not been used before your current trip.

Just renewed our annual passes, including my 16 year old son's. The cm needed to see him and ask him his name and address to verify that he was eligible for the dvc discount. He did not ask to see his id, but he did verify that he lived at the address associated with our dvc account.

Not sure what value will be applied toward the purchase of an AP from your non-expiring ticket. Disney applies the current gate price of the old ticket when it is upgraded, but since non-expiring tickets are no longer sold, there is no current gate price. Also, that non-expiring ticket could be very beneficial for future trips, where you will only be going to the parks for a day or two. I personally would not use it now for 7 consecutive days.

You could instead purchase a 7 day ticket from ParkSavers for $80 less than the current gate price and then upgrade that ticket. If you do that, they will apply the gate price ($80 more than you paid) toward whatever the AP for your DGD costs. As mentioned above, your DGD would not be eligible for the DVC AP if she does not live with you, unless her parents are also members.

Are you certain you want to use the 7 day non-expiring for that? (Assuming you do mean the old non-expiring tickets that they no longer sell vs a 7 day ticket that just hasn't been used yet) The non-expiring likely have the most value being used a even over the course of 2 trips if you ever do shorter ones vs using it to upgrade since as I think that the value you get will be the last price the ticket was sold for and overall gate prices have risen quite a bit since then.

use the 7 day first, then convert at guest services. DGD might have to have the same address as you to get DVC AP.

You can actually do that with a *nonexpiring* ticket and get the full value for the ticket? I may have to rethink my strategy a bit if so.

As a couple of us mentioned, value applied is what it was last sold at on those tickets.

OP - forgot to mention - your DGD would have to live with you to be able to get the DVC AP for her.

Interesting. I have a bunch with a couple of days left. I'll have to make sure we leave a day and try this. Thanks!

Oh, now I see where you're going.

As usual, even when they were current tickets, you had to upgrade within 14 days of it's first use.

Tickets can only be upgraded within 14 days of first use. You can't upgrade an old ticket with a few days left on it.

I have a fair number of Non expiring days on a few tickets... I asked about value or upgrading at Disney Springs... and AKL... I got different stories from both BUT in the end both said they can not change them into something else... HOWEVER the person at DS told me that one day would be worth the current admission fee... whatever that meant but he did not/would not expand as he said use them that is the value... I would say 99.5% you will not find anyone willing to change the tickets and if you do you probably not get a good value for them.... in other words if you paid 250.00 for them through Disney that is what you will get bought at a discount outlet you will get what they paid.....The only info disney will have is what you paid not the last cost.... likely they have far more value for the trips when you only go to the parks a few days. And as others have said if you used them already your window is long closed for changing them.

No expiration tickets are essentially a book of multiple one-day tickets. They could be "worth" a comparable $160 one-day peak-season ticket. Or you could use the. For one extra day and only get $15 of value. But you won't be able to exchange and tickets that are partially used.

There has been one report of someone who added a feature (park hopper or water parks) to an unused no-expiration ticket. But there have been many who say it's not possible. So, finding a CM who either knows how to do it, or knows how to get around it, is key.

We have a couple of non - hopper that we had bought at the time of an increase and UCT didn't have hoppers left so I had figured we'd just add it. The discontinuation of the ticket AND no options to add the hopper was very disappointing. I do plan on trying though.

We need to ask ravenclawtrekkie (ticketing CM) specifics about this, IMO.
I believe @ravenclawtrekkie has stated that there's no way for the ticketing office to upgrade the tickets. Guest Services might be able to. As stated, one person was able to add a feature, so there must be some way to make it happen, but it might not be a legitimate process.

Ticket booths no longer have non-expire tickets in our computer systems. From what I hear, Guest Relations does, so if an unused non-expire ticket was brought to GR, adding options is theoretically possible. I would assume that's why they still have access to those tickets, but I would urge people not to depend on being able to have it done, and treat it as pixie dust if it can be.

Any ticket first used more than 14 days ago can't be upgraded in any way, according to business rules (with a few exceptions like FL resident 3/4 day tickets). If a GR CM chose to make an exception to that rule, they'd have to document it and explain why.

At this point, I personally wouldn't recommend upgrading an unused non-expire ticket to an AP. Those days are "worth" a lot more being used individually than they are as upgrade value, especially since there's no current gate price to bridge them to if they were purchased at a discount.

.

I tried to upgrade 4 unused non-expiring base tickets to park hoppers at the international gateway guest services location last year. I was told that it could not be done - the ticket was no longer in their system.

I have not tried again. I have had the best upgrade experiences at the international gateway guest services location, so I figured if they couldn't do the upgrade, no one could.

Op, after thinking about my experience, you may not be allowed to upgrade the non-expiring ticket to an ap. Have a back up plan in place if you can't do the upgrade!

On a little different note, I was wondering @ravenclawtrekkie if you are aware of any comp tickets given for situations that are in essence non-expiring and days can be used past the usual 14 day expiration?

Were you talking to Guest Relations (a CM in navy blue & plaid) or a ticket booth (a CM in a white collared shirt with an orange/red patterned vest)? They're both at IG and they're right next to each other.

I've never worked with Guest Relations' computer system so I don't know anything about them for a fact. It may only be GR coordinators who can access certain things. Even my coordinators have access to different tickets than I do.

I know very little about any comp tickets (other than the ones given to me twice a year to give to friends), as it's not within my authority to give them out as guest recovery. Sorry.
