YES!!! They don't take clothes back just past the 45 days. I have had this problem with the Gap too. Forgot about something we bought for spring break & put it aside. Remembered it later and they would only give me the lowest sales price EVEN WITH A RECEIPT since it was 47 days!!!!!!!!!!!! I lost a lot of money and was so angry I just traded it for something else and vowed not to go back there. I know it was my own fault, but really don't like companies that don't give an inch -- I was going to buy something else!!

Most stores will give you what you paid for the item with the receipt, but not ON/Gap. I really dislike that.

I was asking about the premise that having an expired receipt was worse than not having a receipt at all.

Thats terrible! If you have a receipt proving what you paid for it then they should give you full credit! Even store credit would be better than less than what you paid for it.

I've bought ON online womens plus things, and you can only return them via the return label. You can be sure i will be trying on and returning things within a day or two!

That's ridiculous. Why can't they call the police? Is it Old Navy's policy not to? Last time I checked, shoplifting was illegal, and they should be able to call the police to handle the situation.

Bath & Body Works and Victoria's Secret have the same policy. All we could do was follow the people around and drive them crazy with "can I help you find something". Corporate policy.

Thats terrible! If you have a receipt proving what you paid for it then they should give you full credit!

However, there should be a line somewhere. If I had the receipt from buying some old toy 10 years and try to return it for full refund, that would be expecting too much. Although T.J.Maxx and Marshalls does take back stuff for store credit no matter how long you have owned it, as long as you don't get a manager you recognizes old pricing labels.

My husband returned the clothes today, using the receipt. We were given full amount credited on our American Express!

I tried to exchange (not return) a sweater without a receipt early in the spring of this year, and, because I didn't have a receipt, I was told that the "policy" stated that you could not even make an exchange w/o the receipt. After arguing with the cashier, the manager came and confirmed. I couldn't believe it. I wanted the same sweater, just a size smaller. I haven't been back to ON since and probably won't go back. Turns out they'll lose in the end
