Old magic bands?

I have several 1.0 Magic Bands that are deactivated (including two from Aunties Playhouse and DCL). What do people do? Can they be recycled or are they simply trash?

I’ve got a few sets of 2.0 bands so I have backups if needed.

They cannot be recycled.

Here's a use you might not have considered...

We all know by now that the magicband has a trio of radio chips living inside it. The chip scanned at the light up terminal is an RFID tag.

What you may not know is that most newer phones have a scanner built into them that will read the unique identifier stored in that chip. And there are useful ways to make use of that.

For example, I have to get up early but sometimes I don't sleep well. I set up my alarm to require that I actually take my phone upstairs and scan an old magicband I have secured to my office desk before it will silence the alarm.

My kids cellphones will send me a txt if they scan an RFID tag. So if they get home and want proof they beat curfew, they scan my office magicband.

If you're creative, you can set up RFID keyless entry systems to unlock your house using an old magicband. It's actually really fun to bring the vacation home like that.

I’m sending a theme here lol! Holiday decor it is!

Thanks Robo! I was thinking with the batteries they most likely couldn’t be recycled but never hurts to ask!

I don't think version 1 had batteries. But I could be mistaken.

That’s fascinating! My would be engineer daughters might just get all the MBs to try and do this! Thanks so much for sharing!
