Now that your question is on the sub-forum, yes it still works. Confirmed by DISers who PM their success stories.

ETA: here's a current thread you must have missed:

thanks. I used the search function and didn't find those. The thread I posted on was the only relevant one I could find.

Is it still possible to obtain fastpasses with magic bands from a previous trip? Last year, magic bands on a different account could pull fastpasses, even if there wasn't a ticket attached to them. It didn't seem right, but it was true.
Has Disney recognized/fixed this or can visitors still do it?

Is it possible, but officially against policy?

Or does Disney simply look the other way?

Still works the same as it did.

If we have a room only reservation the day before our package (resort, dining, and park tickets) starts can we use the MB's associated with that room reservation if I have them linked to a new MDE for extra in park FP's? We would still need to use the same names on both reservations since we would be using DME to get the resort the first day, so does that matter if the same name is on 2 different MDE accounts? Or will that alone link them as the same person? :confused3

You can't transfer MBs to another MDE.

How are you getting into the park? If you are activating your tickets early, you can just schedule FPs with that ticket entitlement you used to get into the park. OR, if you are entering using separate tickets and have a separate set of MagicBands, the MagicBands from the other MDE will work for SDFP.

As long as an RFID does not link directly to FPs for that specific park day, it can be used for SDFP.

Yes sorry my post sounded a bit confusing. Right now we have a package that is booked and linked to our MDE that includes tickets and dining. We are now thinking of adding a room only reservation for one night, the day before our package starts. It will have no tickets associated with it. So can I book that room only reservation and link it to a new MDE account, keeping those MB's associated with the room only, completely separate from our existing package, only using our same names on both, and basically use those MB's from the room only ressie in the parks for SDFPs?

The MBs for the room-only reservation without tickets linked will only open your room door. Once you enter the park the next day with your packaged MBs, use the room-only MBs for SDFP.

~ use room-only MBs for SDFP
~ use packaged MBs for pre-booked FPs

that is exactly what I needed to know thank you! :goodvibes so as long as I keep the 2 sets separate and not linked to the same MDE this should work then.

Yes. Your 2nd MDE will be using a new/different email address and your MBs do not link up between the two MDEs.

Since that only really works for getting a three "day of" fast passes (per magic band), but a pretty big loophole if enough people care enough to
make a second MDE account.

BUT .. I wonder if there is an even bigger loophole that can be exploited by owners of no-expiration tickets or annual passes.

Thinking about it .. I could easily do THIS for my next trip and it isn't even technically a loophole.

I have no-expiration tickets with days still left on them assigned to my MDE account.

I could create a new MDE account and get a normal resort ticket package with it and make my fast passes as normal there 60 days out.
I then use my old MDE account (with the no-expiration tickets linked) to make Fast passes at 30 days out on the same days as my trip.

I now have six Fast Passes a day if I bring my old Magic Bands without using days on my no-expiration tickets. Just need to remember which fast passes are associated with which band (which could be a pain).

It just seems odd that Fast Passes work in the parks if they aren't scanned at the turnstiles.

You mean Magic bands work, not Fast passes. Fast passses are not scanned at the turnstyles.

That's what I meant.

I find it odd that Fast Passes associated to a Magic Band WORK in the park if that Magic Band has not been scanned at the entrance to the park first.

Heck . probably a lot of people already do this . and just don't advertise it. Others probably just don't bother with the hassle (of managing two bands).

We have 4 APs in this house
Sometimes only 2 of us go to the parks
We still make FP for all 4. The 2 of us going use them all
I guess the loop hole in our case is the FP will work even when the owner of that AP didn't enter the park

can I do this with bands I buy online before my trip if I have a second MDE set up? So it's all set up before I go?

If you run a search for Maximize FP+ by ScrapYap, all the instructions are in her first post. Very well-written and all your questions will be answered thoroughly within the first couple of posts of her thread.

Thanks, but I found the thread and read the first post twice and I could be missing it, but it does not answer my question. I read a bunch of responses but I can't read all 100 pages. Does anyone know if I can buy magic bands online on disneys website before I go and link them to a new account for the extra fast passes?

This is from the links I posted on page 2:
Thank you.... but wait...

So... I can make 1 (one) MDE account and still do this just by having more "people" in the MDE account??

Mike (ticket) with 3 FP+ (30 days out)
Jane (ticket) with 3 FP+ (30 days out)
Fake Mike (Magic Band) (find kiosk and setup 3 more FP+)
Fake Jane (Magic Band) (find kiosk and setup 3 more FP+)

Interesting... which method is the safest? Sounds like managing one MDE account is at least easier. :)

What's the reason for needing two MDE accounts then? I've seen a few people online say that part is required.
