Old Luau vs. New Luau

The last time I went to the Luau was almost 20 years ago. As I remember, the food was terrible, and while some of the show was good it was (to me, when I was a child) mostly long and boring. Now I'm having a disagreement with my family - we are going this June and I heard recently that the Luau is updated and now has better food and a more entertaining show. I think it's worth another shot, but my family remembers the last time we went and doesn't want to go. Is there anyone that has been recently and can compare to how it was in the 80's and 90's?

The last time we went was in 2000, and we had a great time. In my opinion, the food is not terrible, but nothing to write home about, but you have to keep in mind that it's really about the entertainment and the atmosphere, both of which I really enjoy. That was my second time going, and I would go again in a heartbeat, but this time we have a 3 1/2 yr old and a 22 month old so it'll have to wait. IMO, it's a classic Disney experience that everyone should do at least once (as an adult).

The show was revamped two years ago and is now called "Spirit of Aloha." I know characters from "Lilo & Stitch" make appearances. I'm sure the food is as average-to-poor as it always was.

We went last June and Lilo and Stitch were no where to be found at all! The show was all about a native girl returning to the islands and rediscovering her love of all things Hawaiian. There were many different dances from the different islands, but after awhile they all started looking the same with different costumes. The fire guy was intense, but at the end of the show. The food was mediocre. I was so disappointed. I think a Lilo and Stitch show would have been more fun, but then again, I'm not a Hawaiian dance afficionado.

I went to the luau last July. I thought the first half of the show was a little slow, but I was thrilled with the second half - authentic Hawaiian dancing from all of the different islands. It was wonderful. The best part was the fire dancer. I had never seen anything like it in my life. The food was okay but not great. That didn't really matter to me though. I would definitely reccomend seeing it. Plus, the luau cove is so beautiful.

This is just my opinion: The old luau was okay, the luau now is terrible! The food is mediocre at best and the show is horrible. Sorry for the bad review but this is just my honest opinion.
