I'll be at Old Key West April 26-28.
Has anyone stayed here lately? I looked around and couldn't find the "Official" Old Key West thread.

I am unsure of what building to request. The only thing I would like is to be near a bus stop.

Thanks!

Old Key West is a lovely resort. It went through a complete refurbishment in the last couple of years. Since it is a DVC resort, you can find the most information in the DVC Forum. Here's a link to the OKW Lovers thread:

Lots of OKW experts who can answer your questions and give you advice for what requests to make. :thumbsup2

Have a magical trip! :goodvibes

If you don't care, I would just make the request "near a bus stop".
Each building at OKW is relatively small and has a variety of sizes of villas. If all the villas of the size you reserved are already assigned, they won't know why you asked for that building.
Also, OKW has multiple bus stops, so none of the buildings are very far from a bus stop.

The only thing I would suggest is asking for a room that is not directly across the street from the bus because it is loud at 1 in the morning when the buses are stopping off. Other than that, OKW is a great resort.

Thanks. I do have another question regarding transportation. On past trips I find the bus transportation at the mod's, to be not the greatest. Consistently waited very long times for the buses. This is due to multiple resort stops. Would you know if OKW shares bus routes with other resorts.

I have no problem renting a car, seems to save alot of time

Thanks for the tips!
I did check out the Old Key West Lovers thread.

I'm thinking of requesting buildings 53,54 or 56. I'll say that I'd like to be close to a bus stop.

I am renting points and my DVC member said that all of the buildings next to the HH were not available.

I've stayed at the CSR which has four bus stops and does NOT share with another resort. I've stayed at OKW that has four or five bus stops and does NOT share with another resort. I found them very comparable as far as wait times.

You will love Old Key West  I have found the bus service there to be great :thumbsup2 I will be there the same time as you :yay: I cannot wait to be back at Old Key West again :cloud9:

We were in building 53 in December. Great location! Very quiet yet very quick to get to the bus stop! :thumbsup2

Near HH may seem like the most desirable place to be, but I have actually preferred our stays in buildings at South Point and Turtle Pond. :)

5 stops at OKW and I agree -- buses at both OKW and CSR are usually very efficient. :goodvibes

South Point? Turtle Pond?

The map on the Dis doesn't label those areas.

South Point bus stop is by building 53.

Turtle Pond bus stop is by building 33. I like buildings 30 - 35. The walk to Hospitality House from Turtle Pond is a pretty walk and not too terribly far. :)

Id say somewhere along Penninsular road. Its the first bus stop, a walking distance from the hospitality house (which is the main area with the pool and restaurants). The walk to hospitality also means if you happen to miss a bus you can walk over to hospitality house and get on that same bus as its the last stop.

OKW does not share buses and, since a lot of members drive there, the buses are usually not terribly busy

Thanks everyone!
I am so excited!!
I will call and just request being close to a bus stop. Hoping for buildings 32 or 56. I will be happy anywhere, as I a will be WDW! :thumbsup2

FYI...OKW is a deluxe villa, not a Mod. :thumbsup2

We have stayed there about 7 or 8 times and always found the bus service to be the best in WDW. The buses only service OKW and except for closing times, be rarely waited more then 10 or 15 minutes to be on our way!

You will love the resort!

We'll be there the same time as you! Building 33 was right across the street from the bus stop.
