Old Key West - The Good, The Bad, & The Ugly

I have stayed at OKW numerous times, including the week the OP was there and haven't had any major issues. I'll be back there in December again :)

I think you can find a bad room at any hotel, but if they are not made aware of the issue, how are they to fix it?

I had no idea those bathrooms had not been rennovated along with the rooms. We have stayed at OKW four times and all but one of our rooms was immaculate (and that one wasn't dirty, just worn out, this was several years ago before the renno.). Our last stay there, we had a King bed in the master and it was truly the hardest bed I had ever slept in. Never had that happen there before. Not sure if at some point some rooms got different beds or what but it was so hard I literally had a hard time sleeping. The other times we were in one bedrooms and a studio and the beds were always great.

I will say, OKW is one of our favorite resorts and our favorite DVC resort we ever stayed at. I really want to buy a contract there in a few years.

I would have called housekeeping to come up and clean that grout. I have had this happen at CBR and the Poly, its Florida and it happens. CBR they came up while we gone and it looked like new, the Poly did nothing even after a trip to the front desk.

I will say there are really no Disney resorts I will pay rack rate to stay in unless I am getting free dining!

I am looking forward to staying at OKW for the first time next month. Hopefully the room will be clean, because I am little bit of a freak about germs:eek:

And you stay in hotels?? Take a deep breath and remember that germs can be your friends. They help you build up an immunity to the bad ones.

My therapist keeps telling me the same thing.

I am sorry your room was not the greatest clean-wise. Thats terrible and Disney should be looking into this due to the amount of people having this happen to them lately. If I were you I would continue to stay on property as I am pretty sure this is a rare occurance and if it does happen, just call the Hospitality House and the would be more then accomodating to having someone head over there to give it a little extra pixie dust! pixiedust:
