I just booked a 2 bedroom villa at this resort and now i'm looking for more info regarding it. I haven't seen much, I guess because it's a DVC property? It seemed like the rate we got (40% off mailer!) was really good for the time we are going (Dec. 7-15). Once we split the price with the in-laws, it's in the same range as Boardwalk and other resorts for 2 rooms and MYW with DP bookings.

What's anybody's thoughts on the property? If there's a lot of negative feedback, there is still time to change locations. But it seems like a good choice with 4 adults and 2 children. And it was the only villa they CM found available (in fact she said the last one!) those dates.

Thoughts, opinions?

I like OKW. Only stayed there twice, but I liked both stays. The only drawback for me is the getting stuck behind towel trucks all the time when driving through the resort.

As a personal preference, I like hotels. Just like having everything under one roof. Aside from that, there really isn't anything I didn't like about OKW.

Very pleasant. :thumbsup2

Just became an OKW /DVC owner in December after staying there for a week.

It is a great place and the rooms are ENORMOUS.

I love this resort!

Who gets the master bedroom with the king and who gets the second bedroom with two queen beds? I never give up my king bed.

This is our favourite DVC resort when we're in a 1 or 2 bdrm - it has the largest square footage, there is a full dining table, a huge deck with furniture and a door to the master suite or dining room off the patio, separate laundry room, loads of space to spread out. The views are amazing - we loved building 24 and 33, the view was golf greens and a pond, so we could watch and feed the ducks.
You'll love it there!

Thanks everybody! It's good to hear positive feedback! Had a little post booking remorse. But it actually sounds too good! It will be nice to have all the amenities of home. Just a washer and dryer alone, that's so much nicer than dealing with the laundry mats.

Well, since we have the 2 kids, the in-laws will be taking the king size and we'll be using the 2 queens. I prefer a king myself. But I guess I'll suffer :)

For the 2 bedroom villa, 4 adult PHs, with meal deal and 1 child PH, with meal, it's $5600. I thought that was a great price for December!

Another question... what has everybody found to be the best way to go back and forth to the parks? Do you just take the busses or drive? Sometimes the busses can be very frustrating, I was considering driving to most of the parks.

Beautiful and nice and quiet..We are staying there again in October for six nights..:thumbsup2

We are here for a week in June....I cant wait to stay in the 2 bdr....I "toured" the resort back in Dec, however, ended up hanging out at the Gurgling Suitcase with CM Ramona drinking awesome margarita's:) Not her, just me....

So many folks love this place....there has to be a reason!

We've stayed at OKW in a two bedroom twice and it is awesome. There is so much space and have had 6-7 people each time. The resort is beautiful. It is a good choice. We have stayed at all of the vacation club resorts at Disney except for AKV and we are hoping to get in there this year. We have been happy with every resort we have ever stayed at. Have fun on your vacation.

Thanks everyone. I feel very confident we made a great choice now!

Thanks for the pics too! Can you rent bikes for the walking trails? Our 3 year old saw that and now she wants to ride a bike (she'll be 4 at the time of stay)?

I just finally got the email confirmation of the reservation, so now it really feels real! Just need to find a flight and a rental car and make our ADRs. Figuring out where we want to eat and what additional tours we want to do, should keep us busy for the next few months.

I really think we will drive to most of the parks. Except MK. That would be a pain. Think a good idea is to park, or take the bus, to Epcot and hop on the monorail would be a faster/easier alternative to just taking the bus to MK?

I know, worrying about the back and forth to the parks at this time seems silly. But I am not a fan of the bus transport.

My inlaws are thinking they want to use ME to go from the airport to the resort. I think I really need to convince them FL Tours is a better idea if they don't want a rental car.

We've stayed at OKW twice and we love it. Very relaxing. The decor is calming and "beachy" which really makes you feel like you are on vacation.

We drove to all parks except MK. We took the bus to MK because it takes you straight to the entrance, avoiding TTC. It saves time parking, then getting on the tram, then taking the monorail or ferry. Still be prepared for about 20 min trip from OKW. It takes about 10-15 for the bus to stop at all the OKW stops and then another 10 min to get to MK. The only time the bus was crowded was late evening going from MK back to OKW.

You can rent single bikes for about $8 an hour. I know there is a daily rate also but I can't remember it. You can also rent surreys.

Have fun:cheer2:

the bikes come with everything - the head helmet, and knee pads - I think.

I would go with DME - and I have before. It may take a little longer - but hey it is FREE!!! Disney doesn't do a lot for free.:thumbsup2

and the bus is there if you need it - say someone get sicks in your party - instead of driving them back to OKW - they can definitely go ride the bus.

we have been members at OKW since 1993 and love the resort. We are staying there in August for a week. We stock the kitchen and my kids are old enough to come and go at their leisure. The rooms are large, and parking is right outside your villas. You will love it. Have a great time.

Good to know the bikes come with helmets and knee pads. That was going to be another question. $8 an hour is reasonable too!

I definately know we'll be renting a car, we will be making a few excursions off-site. Grocery run and a trip for Grinchmas. Hopefully the in-laws will have a good ME experience if they go that way. I know Pete, on the poscast, is down on it. I can understand why. We've used Mears a few times for shuttle service. We had some good experiences with Mears, but also had some bad (getting to the airport 3 hours early is not fun at all). FL Tours does a great job tho, we used them a on a most of our 4 day trips.

I can't wait tho! I watched Samatha Browns Disney Holdiay show with DD the other night. She was adamant she wanted to go for halloween, but after seeing all the decorations changed her mind. She did ask if the rides were open, the special didn't show any, she was worried about that.

Didn't they have something with Jack Skellington and Nightmare before Christmas at Studios? She's a huge fan of that movie. We could finally get her to sit on Santas lap if it was Jack dressed as Santa.
