Old Key West in August Question. HELP!

Hi All,

I am a DVC member who will be in Orlando for a convention in August of 2009. I am able to book at Saratoga 11 mo. in advance as my home resort. We are inviting friends so I would get a better bang for my points by booking at Old Key West (Two Studios). Problem: I can only book 7 months advance! from your experiences: do I have a shot at gettign a reservation 7 months out for August?

OKW is a large resort, and is one of the last resorts to fill up. I think your chances are excellent.

Remember that OKW studios have 2 real queen beds, no sleeper sofa.

I just booked a studio from 8/10-8/15 at the 7 month window. I don't think you will have any problem.

I don't think you will have a problem either. You can always book SSR at 11 months and then switch to OKW at 7 months. The worst that will happen is you will have to go on the wait list and that far in advance your wait list will most likely come through.

Thanks everybody for the warm welcome and the great advice! I am a former Disneyland CM and a true DL fan but after our first trip to WDW, I was hooked! This will be our third trip out and I can't wait.

We once booked one studio at OKW at about three weeks out in August (2005).
We just booked a dedicated two bedroom at OKW for the first week in May, and I was surprised we could get anything because everyone raves about May, and going to the F&G Festival.

I just booked 2 - 2 BR for the last week in July at the 7 month window. No troubles.

you still have time to bank those extra points....OKW will be less
points.

I DONT THINK YOU SHOULD HAVE A PROBLEM WITH GETTING INTO OKW IN AUGUST, I JUST GOT INTO BCV FOR THIS AUGUST AT 7 MONTHS, JUST CALL DAY BY DAY. IT IS IS A LITTLE EXTRA WORK BUT WORTH IT IF THATS WHAT YOU WANT. HAVE FUN!!

That is true but since he has an August UY and is already banking 2008 points won't he be able to bank any unused 2009 after his trip?

Welcome to the DIS! You can change the icon if you like. Just go to one of your posts on this thread, click edit, and then when the edit screen pops up (which may take a while if the boards are slow), scroll down to the bottom. You'll see the thread icons at the bottom with the thumbs down marked. You can change it to something else, or just remove the icon altogether. Just booked two studios at hospitality house for august 16,23 no problem.

It may not be important but I'm sure you realize you won't be able to deduct the room for DVC used for business and that most companies won't reimburse for this type of stay.
