Old Key West Availbility

As this is my first post and I am sure it has been asked many times but my home resort is AKV and I am looking to book at Old Key West for mid Sept 2009 so of course I cannot book until 7 months out. I will need either 4 studios, or two two-bedrooms or a grand villa. We would prefer the grand villa so everyone can stay together. How hard will it be to get it at 7 months at that time of year? If it is too difficult how about 2 two-bedrooms? Thanks for your help in advance.

I would think that September would be the easiest time for you to get a grande villa, since it's still so hot down in Florida at that time of year. OKW has lots of 2 bedroom villas, so that wouldn't be a problem either. If you were going to try to get those types of rooms during F &W, or the holiday season, that would be a different story. All rooms are difficult to secure then!

Grand Villas are popular and are often gone by the time the 7 month window rolls around. But that said, September is arguably the least popular time of the year for DVC members to book DVC accommodations - so you have a reasonable chance.

I do not think you would have any trouble booking 2 two bedroom units or 4 studios. Still, my advice is to call as soon as your window opens - it costs less points to stay at OKW than any of the other resorts, so that makes it popular at the 7 month window.

P.S. The light purple font is hard to read - you may miss out on some good responses when you use it. Some posters will not bother with posts that use non-standard colors and fonts. Just FYI.

Plus the serif font is harder to read than a sans serif font.

We have been owners at OKW for 11 years and have traveled and stayed 3-4 times in September. I have never had an issue adding nights even the day before a reservation started. Once I even added Labor Day night the day before! I think you probably have at least a CHANCE of getting the GV, and for sure you will be able to get multiple 2 bedrooms or 1 bedrooms.
