I was just wondering if anyone ever purchased a timeshare rental off of ebay before. I was offered a second chance to purchase a 5 night stay for 362.22 because the high bidder backed out. I was loving the idea until a friend ask me why he would sell it so cheap when the going rate is 254.00 a night there? Anyone ever try it before?

I haven't rented an OKW unit from eBay, but I am thinking of doing it next year. I have heard of no problem with anyone who has. Just make sure the seller has a long history and excellent feedback as a SELLER. The going rate for DVC points is $8-12 per point, that means when someone cant use their DVC points for a year they are willing to sell them for that price rather than forgo using them at all. The reason it is much cheaper than going through CRO/WDW is basically because all the market will allow for now is at MOST $12 per point, if they tried selling for more people would just rent the cheaper units.

Besides verifying the seller's EBAY history, I would also email him/her & inquire about a specific week or two that suit you for travel. I have seen these posted frequently and am often tempted to bid. Just never see them when we are actually in the planning phase of a trip. (THat & I am a control freak and like the security of a no penalty cancellation.)
