Called Friday and there was a 40% off code attached to our household. There was also a 30% for deluxe and 40% off Old Key West. We have stayed at all the deluxe resorts and the poly is our best. We have never stayed at OKW. Has anyone stayed at OKW before? Let me know how you liked it ASAP, because I might call back and change to something else.:cool1:

Has anyone stayed at Old Key West? Is it worth staying here if you get 40% off. We are staying in a studio. Please let me know if you have stayed here before and if you liked it. We have stayed at most of Disney's resorts, but never at OKW or Beach Club. Please let us know what you think about OKW.

loved it! the units are bigger than any other dvc on property. the boat to DtD is a nice perk. very relaxing feel. we usually rent a car, so parking right in front of our unit was nice, too. at 40% off, i'd snatch it up.

We’ve stayed in most of the deluxe resorts. We prefer OKW. It will be our first choice on our next trip. I like the floor plan much more than the boardwalk standard. The units are larger than the other DVC resorts, especially the living room. We shared a 2BR with another family last time and three boys decided to sleep on air mattresses in the living room. You can’t do that at the other resorts. They have full size washers and dryers in the 1BR and larger units. Parking is right outside your door. We always rent a car. We were lucky with our room assignment. We could walk to the last bus stop when leaving. And get off on the second or third coming back. It saved us some time when we did use Disney transportation. Unfortunately there are no elevators. The pool and activities were nice.

assuming this is a studio

2 queen beds, kitchennett, balcony. tv with dvd.

a big bathroom.

one main pool with a slide, 3 quiet pools.

go over on the main resort board - I answer longer and better there.

I'll be honest and say that OKW was not a favorite for me. I felt really "removed" from things, which for some people is a good thing, but for me, I may as well have been staying off-site. Even though we requested to be near the main pool and restaurant, we were put in the back of the resort, so we had to drive just to get the pool. I also thought the rooms needed a rehab; seemed out-dated to me. There was a cobweb over our bath vanity the entire week that never got cleaned. I like to stay at resorts where I can walk easily to where the "action" is, like at the Boardwalk, Poly, WL, etc. Just my opinion, if you don't mind the secluded feel, then please try it out. It's just not for me.

emalone, when was the last time you went to Disney World? Just trying to figure out if it was recent or a few years ago. I suspect the PIN's and postcards generally go to people who have not visited within a specified time-frame. If you don't mind, please lemme know.:flower3:

I hate to say it, but I'm with you! We had our first DVC stay there in August & were not impressed. DS loved the main pool / slide but IT WAS A HIKE from our unit. NOT what we were looking for after walking around the parks all day! It's the oldest DVC and is showing its age IMO. I wanted to love it as so many people do, but we just weren't feeling the love! As a matter of fact, we have a studio booked at VWL for 4 n. over MLK weekend and when the AP rates came out the other day I called & we could get into OKW again for about $400 less than what we're paying for VWL...but we said no. For one thing we want to stay at diff. resorts each time we go but we only felt so-so about the property. They also had a 1 bedroom unit at SSR on the AP rate for only about $50 more but I really want to try VWL so I think we'll stick to what we've got. (Plus I'm afraid if we go up to a 1 bedroom we'll get spoiled & won't want to turn back to studios:goodvibes !

Even tho it's not our fav. resort, it IS a fantastic rate at OKW - it would've only been $670 for a studio if we switched! It's a good deal, and worth a shot if it's that or a Value! At least you get queen sizes beds in DVC units too! Anyway, it's OK for that rate, but we didn't consider it as "deluxe" as we expected...

We were just there in April for 8 days and we go every year. I never get pins or codes in the mail or email, I just call all the time to see if I have a code.
