:flower3: I am planning a trip to Disney in June of 2008. Our home resort is SSR. We are getting bored there so we thought we would try OKW. I have been reading mixed reviews. I am a little concerned about them not having elevators. Does anyone have anything good to say about this resort? I really would like to have a room near the main pool with a great view. Any suggestions. Do they have bell service that takes your luggage to your room? SSR has always been so accomodating as far as your luggage is concerned.

Just about every villa at OKW has a great view - water view, golfcourse view. Not sure about the assistance with hauling your stuff up to your room. We've stayed there several times and just brought it up ourselves.

Villas near the main pool and Hospitality House will have a separate booking category beginning in Jan. The three buildings with an elevator are set aside for guests with medical needs.

Why will the rooms have a different category starting in January? Are the rules changing? My husband has two herniated discs in his back so I am concerned about him hauling anything.

This information was given to all members a while back. I think it might have been when they announced the changes to banking points. No additional points will be required (like the BW view at the BWV).

:hippie: Thanks for your help. I am a little scared to try a different resort since we have been so happy at SSR, but I do need a change. I can't book til the end of November so I am going to cross my fingers and hope we can get a 1 bedroom.

We are SSR owners too. We love it there, but stayed at OKW last month to save points. We fell in love with it.

It is just such a beautiful resort to walk around. They got the theming perfectly. And we loved the size of the 2br. Much larger than SSR.

I really like the decor of the rooms @ SSR and saw the pictures online of OKW and was a bit put off by it. I works much better in person. The furniture is very good quality in construction and fabric. I wouldn't choose it for my home in Minnesota, but it works very well at the resort.

I really appreciated the privateness of the balconies. At OKW the room layout staggers the balconies, so you are not 2 feet from your neighbors balcony. They are much larger too. We really enjoyed them.

The pool area at OKW is very nice, but I prefered SSR's pool. We took the boat to SSR 2 days just to use the pool and eat at Artists Pallate.

I really think you will enjoy OKW!

Have a great trip.

Thanks for you reply. This is a big trip for my husband since he is retiring this year from the police department after 25 years. I just want everything to be perfect. I hope OKW can live up to what everyone says.

OKW is my home resort, but I have stayed at SSR.

OKW is a terrific resort...very quiet, and my favorite place to stay.

The rooms are larger at OKW than at any of the other DVC resorts. For example, a 1 BR at SSR is approx 750 Sq ft. The same 1 BR at OKW is approx1000 sq ft.

SSR has a lot more activities than OKW. OKW is a nice quiet resort, great pools (Main pool and 3 quiet pools), but not a lot more going on.

Give it a try...you'll love it.

... I just want everything to be perfect. ...

As long as you back off from this idea, you should be okay. Perfect and DVC vacation don't always go together. Enjoy your stay at OKW. We'll probably be there in June, too.

By the way, I had a total knee replacement last Jan and have arthritis in the other knee and the stairs have never bothered me.

OKW definitely has bell service to help you with your luggage. so don't worry about that. that say when you leave be sure to place your order as soon as possible - if they let you the night before.

okay there are no rooms near the main pool. It is set up like SSR. so the main pool doesn't bother anyone.

that say you can get a view of the HH area from 23-26 building. this also have the first bus stop. that say it does NOT have its own quiet pool. This is one of the most popular requests.

I would go with pool view, quiet area myself.

Ive stayed at Both SSR and OKW and actually prefer OKW! Yes like the one poster said there are a specific lot of buildings that have elevators! I found out after our last trip with my autistic nephew and how hard it was lugging his big stroller up and down someone on these boards told me should ve asked sooner! Silly me!! Okw has activities by the pool like dance contests all age groups, bingo etc.. You cn ride anybus to the main building for the main pool! Our last stay we were off of turtlepond by the turtleshack pool and snack bar it was a very nice small pool although we prefer the main pool!

only building 62, 63, 64 have elevators - one of these does not have a parking lot. they use the bus service at HH.

OKW is the best resort ever!! Do you have any kids?? IT's great for them along with you! the rooms are amazing and the pools are marvelous! i KNOW you will love this resort! i love it so much and can't wait to go back in april!
