When we go in November we will have a 10 day non expiring ticket. I plan to use the one day we have left on an old hopper ticket from a few years ago on the day we do AK then Spectro that night. Do I have to trade the ticket in for some new one? Or you can still use old tickets and not finger scan when you use them? Anyone done this?? :sunny:

Ok but do we have to go to a ticket window or some other place to match the old ticket to new fingerscan? It will be our 2d day at parks, so will have used one day of the new ticket already, so finger scan will "be in the system" ??

When I used my old park hopper pass, no scan was required because it never had one to begin with, therefore nothing to compare.

:smooth:

All adults tickets now require a finger scan. You will just scan your fingers like you did with the other ticket. No need to visit guest services. It will be tagged once the computer reads the ticket.

I am going in July and plan on using an old park hopper ticket. I will make a post when I get back on the details of using the old ticket and how it worked. Look back in July for my post. :)

For magnetic stripe tickets old, new, unused or partially used, the turnstile procedure is the same nowadays -- insert ticket, insert fingers, retrieve ticket, walk through on green light.

Your index and middle fingers should form a narrow V shape. Hold still, don't keep wiggling.

Be aware that old park hopper passes are still valid at the parks, BUT if the pass was issued PRIOR to AK opening, then you may not be able to use the pass to access AK. Somehow WDW has a way of telling when the pass was issued and whether or not it is valid at all of the parks.

I read this somewhere over the past few months, but I have no way of verifying the validity of it.

You put your fingers in for the scan just like before - but I don't believe it actually matches anything on the old ones. I think it's just procedure now. I say this because I have 3 old hoppers that I've used a few days a year for the last 3 years. Last year we took DD & her BF with us in April after the new system took place and they and DH used the old park hoppers for 2 days and I used my new one. We were all scanned. Then in June I took DN's to Typhoon Lagoon and 10 yo DN and my mother used our park hoppers and were scanned w/ no problem.

The AK restriction on pre-AK tickets was dropped over 7 years ago (January 1999).

Ok thanks= so whether I finger scan or not, I can just put the old ticket in, and take it out...then do same when we go to other park later same day?? Sounds basic enough!
