It was a Penny Arcade! A real one, as all the shops on Main Street at the time were what they said they were. Two of the machines that were there are now over at the Boardwalk, off the lobby on the way to the handicapped elevator down to the boardwalk level.
We were there that year also - not only was there an absence of crowds, there was an absence of STROLLERS!! We had one for our toddler son, but definitely not for his 4 year old sister. There were 'very' few in any of our pictures, and they all contained babies. Went to Disneyland that year also and it was the same there. We rented one of those blue metal framed ones there.
I just found and uploaded a whole bunch of photos from the 15 year celebration in 1986. I was two and a half and remember almost none of it, lol. Most of these are from a parade. I remember being with my mom and emerging from some building right as the parade started, as they emerged from back stage, so we had a really good view. Look at the outfits and the roller skates!
