Old Disney Park photos

I have feeling that the picture above might be the same area as this picture below. Someone else posted the below picture. But if you look to the right top of the roof in the grassy area in front of what looks like Pooh's Hunny Pot, it looks like there are a couple poles there. But I don't know if they are the same poles. Of course those are no longer there.

I also found this picture that was posted by someone else but if you look to the far right, i think those poles are the same as the ones that are still there today. Note the last picture in my posting. The dock on the far left of this picture is the loading dock for Tom Sawyer Island.

Thanks for (re)posting these photos! I think you are right- this does look like the area in question. In the second photo, what is the area along the water on the right? That isn't the loading area for Tom Sawyer island, is it? Looks like a picnic area or something.

In the first photo, it looks like a parade is going on, and Pooh and the Honey Pot are walking off by where BTMRR is now. Maybe that was the entrance/exit area for the parades back then (because the train station was in a different location at the time)?

Interesting stuff!

It is amazing to me how different this area looks now, with SM and BTMRR.

That's the canoe loading area. They used to have the longboat style canoes that you could ride - the dock and loading area for those canoes is actually still there between Tom Sawyer and Big Thunder, but it's all closed off now.

Yep. It's now a designated smoking area. And for a while it was the loading dock for the Keelboats after they closed the old Keelboat dock next to the Haunted Mansion.

It looks like the "queue line" area that was in front of the poles is no longer there. But here are 2 pics of how that area looks today.

Tom Sawyer Island dock:

The poles are to the right of the smaller building on the right side of the picture:

Thank you for posting these photos! I saw the small building on the far right of your second photo (and the middle of your third photo) on my last visit, but it was night, and I couldn't see very well. It looked like it was covered with roll-up fabric shades, which suggested to me that it might sometimes be used for something. Does anyone know what this building was or is used for? It could have been a place where food or drinks were sold.

So these poles then are kind of in a covered brush area now? it was hard to tell, but can people actually see them with our actually "looking" for them. (I hope that makes since)

It does make sense. And honestly, I don't think they are noticable. Especially if you are not a smoker. :rotfl2: That area is now the smoking section. If i had not been looking for them, I would have never found them. And the small building there appears to be a drink stand. But I didn't pay much attention to it because I was trying to look over the bushes to see the poles better.

Its amazing how much things change!!

This is the only one I have scanned now, but here's my dad and I at AA at WS in EPCOT back in 1995. I was a pretty stylin' 11 year old back then:eek:

Wow - those are awesome pics Eeyore! :thumbsup2

I really don't remember any of those, even though I was there in 82 and 84, but think we focused on rides, not WS. Cool to see now!

These pictures are great! I love the old skyway pictures and of course how everyone is dressed. It definitely brings back memories!:goodvibes
