Old Disney Park photos

(P.S. They just raised it again to $71 for a one day one park pass! :scared1: )

Actually, it was $71 and now it's $75 but really it's all about perspective. Sure the cost of a day's ticket was more than half what it is now but the costs of everything else and the standard of living have gone up proportionally as well.

Sorry, must have had them switched in my head.

So, I was looking through old photos last night, and I found this one of my grandmother from...I think the 70's. The picture doesn't have a date or location on it anywhere, and I know that she travelled a lot so it really could be DL or WDW. Anyone recognize what's behind her? I can't place it.

I'm not sure but I love her outfit! She looks smart. :goodvibes

OK, this goes against all better judgment, but I figure if you can't laugh at yourself, your world isn't a very good place! So, I took some digital pics of the pics. Oooh, this is scary stuff. People, please, viewer discretion is advised!

Yep, and I thought I was H-O-T and cool at the same time. I was hoping to run into Damon from The Mickey Mouse Club while we were there. He could have never resisted me!!!!!

Don't you look cute!

Once upon a time there was no hat!

Oh, how I hate the stupid hat!

Here are some from my family's trip in 1979. I'm the smallest boy in each.

I like Alice with her real hair!

But I think growing up with regular visits really impacted me. It's so hard to explain. It makes sense in my head but it's very hard to put it into words. There is something different about WDW. I can go to other theme or amusement parks and have fun, but I never feel like I do at WDW. It truly feels like going home. So much of my childhood is benchmarked there. I can walk down Main Street and (unfortunately only in my mind's eye) vividly remember the picture we had to take in front of the flower carts every single trip. I remember my grandpap dragging us into Hall of Presidents every day we were in the MK so he could take a catnap in the back row. I remember riding Dumbo with grandma for the last ride of the night. I remember finally working up the courage to ride Space Mountain and Haunted Mansion, the latter I distinctly remember listening my way through because my hands were firmly glued to my eyes except a quick peek through fingers to see the ghost hitching a ride with us.

Even as the parks have grown, I feel like they've grown with me or me with them. As attractions were added or replaced, I can remember where I was in my life when they were new.

To a lot of people, it's corny and silly. But to me, and probably many people here, it makes sense. All I know is that I can't wait to have kids of my own and start all over.
Aww, that just made me cry! It's so true! I know EXACTLY what you mean! I bet most of us here understand perfectly too.
Here are some from 1974.

I was just wondering if these were from 1976? It looks like it is for the Bicentennial celebration.

I miss the Tarzan Rocks Show!!

Tarzan was and is my all time favorite show! I can't believe they took it out for that NEMO show! :sad2:

Please excuse whatever it is I'm wearing. I was young and stupid.

I love the old paper bags!!

I would excuse it if I could see it! Your pictures are a little small! ;) Are you trying to hide?

It looks like the building behind your Grandma says "Bank", if that helps anyone!

Ha Ha. I made all the pictures the same size, but only one came out smaller.

In that outfit you could find me in the dark!

This is a reply to Don Pacho's post way back on page 14. He posted some great old slides he'd scanned that had a fair amount of color fade. I took the liberty of color-correcting my favorites a bit. I hope someone else hasn't done this already and I'm re-posting... I'm only on page 15 of 88 right now!

Ok, I really don't want to make a habit of this, but I ran across nittanyliongirl02's shot of Cindy in carriage and just wondered if I could salvage it. Here's my whack at it...

Hello NBTstatic,
Your mom's outfits are wonderful. I love them and would love to wear them now. They would make great outfits today(with a little spin here and there). I want to be a stylish yet functional WDW mom like her one day. party:

I was thinking the exact same thing! Adorable.

The outfits are just as fun as the pictures themselves.

Great pictures everyone! Keep 'em coming! :goodvibes

i love the 4th pic with the old lady in red on right, with her hubby's hands on her shoulder, both look so happy!! So SWEET!!!

Awwwwwwwww! very sweet!!!:goodvibes
I noticed lots of big purses and packages! I don't think they had Back Packs or "Fanny Packs" yet!:rotfl2:
And no package pick up either!

Whew! I just spent the last 5 hours looking at all these great old photos. Really nostalgic for me. I think a lot of our older Disney pics were lost in my grandparent's floods (yes, floods, 4 of them). This first set are ones i found in my grandfather's dresser after his death. The first two are from April 1972, and are obviously from MK. The third is from the same set of slides, and had the same frame, but I don't recognize it. Perhaps an earlier rendition of JC, or maybe 20,000?

Here are some of my own pics from the early '80s. Not sure about the date on the first, the rest are from 1984

The street scene from World of Motion (loved that ride)...

Another favorite from the World of Motion, the Lean Machine! I doubt I ever rode WoM without watching the Lean Machine video at least three times. Alas, that area was quite dark and I never got a decent shot of the real thing, so the brochure will have to do...

My ticket to ride. If I recall the price on the back was $18. The good ol' days indeed!

And, though I've posted it on another thread, this is one of my favorite vintage pics, Spaceship Earth with the acrylic sculpture in front (pre-Leave-a-Legacy blight!).

Wow, this is really neat. Do you or anyone else have any other photos of World Showcase being built?

I was first going to say JC, but now I'm thinking it looks way to bright and cheery, LOL. Could have been from 20,000. BUT I absolutely love that pic. Going to save it for future reference!
