My birthday is March 13th too!! ('81 though)

...just where have YOU been, young lady??? Get thee to the Teachers' thread POSTHASTE!!! [ :rolleyes1 ]

Oh Kim, my friend...I just saw this post. I have A LOT of catching up to do on the Teacher's board. I will try to pop on over there tonight!

LOVE the old pics everyone! I'll see if I can find some more to add when I get home.

Sure here are both:

Wow. Look at the difference. I still wish they had all those topiaries. Loves the sculptured animals along the monorail. Now you're lucky to find one here or there and none along the monorail like the good ole days. That is one of my clear memories from going back about a year or so after the park opened. I think I was 5ish?

cool pics skippyman....

I think the totem poles were at Ft Wilderness... not positive though - they had some, but they may have been different.

What I noted as a little odd was that there were no people walking down the center of main street like they do now. Is that because of the crowd level now, or is it just that people now don't care about right of way? :confused3

Good point! I didn't notice that before. :confused3

Neither.

There was a LOT more vehicular traffic on Main Street than there is today.

Okay, I should be writing another post for my pre-trip report or getting things ready for our trip to WDW in 6 days. But no, I found this thread and I was hooked. And since we just got a new scanner, I had to go looking for pictures. I have some from 1987 and some from 1997. I'm going to just do the 1987 ones right now. The pictures are from my first trip to WDW for Spring Break my freshman year in college.

Here I am with my friends. I'm the one with the pink shorts on second from the left. This is at Epcot, and I saw another picture similar to this. I guess it was a good picture taking area.

Here I am along with my friend, who became my roommate the next year, kissing one of my favorite people, Robin Hood. Of course maybe we should have kissed him on the cheek instead, so that you could see him in the picture.

And here is a picture of one of my friends getting a blessing from Friar Tuck.

Here is a cool picture, of Mexico.

And here we are in line for spaceship earth.

I think I saw a similar picture to this, but thought I would include my version also. From Epcot.

Here is a cool picture of Spaceship Earth at night. You know I've actually lost contact with most of the people I went on this trip with, so maybe some of them will be dissers and will contact me.

Here is another cake picture for the 15th anniversary.

Another 15th anniversary type picture.

Here we are in line for something at the MK, I don't remember which ride. Check out my shades. :cool1:

Here is a cake topiary at MK.

Here I am on the carousel. My outfit kinda matches the ride...that's so scary. :scared1:

Here is a picture from BTMR. I can't take credit for this cool picture though, one of my friends took it.

And I have to share one non WDW picture. This is a picture of my residence hall room the following year, where my friend and I got a bright idea for wall decorations. I thought it was pretty creative of us.

I really wish I could find all my dad's slides from our 85 trip...they're mixed in with hundreds of other slides. Maybe it should be my winter project!!

bumping again! :thumbsup2

Thanks for the bump :thumbsup2 This is too good a thread to let it die :scared:

There has to be others with photos from the '90s and '80s .... maybe '70s :confused3 I know that I have some slides from at least the early '90s and maybe late '80s that I need to digitalize. :surfweb:

I recently found some pictures of a visit to Disney World from August 1982. My grandmother lived in Orlando and my sister and I were visiting her and for our birthdays -both in August - she took us to Disney World for the day. Back then it was just the Magic Kingdom but Epcot was going to open in October so we got to take the monorail over to see a little preview of Epcot. When I first looked at the pictures I couldn't understand why I only had pictures of the entrance to Epcot then it dawned on me why.

EpcotPreview1.jpg

If you look closely, you can see construction going on with what I think is Morroco - or maybe that is Japan.

EpcotPreview2.jpg

It is strange to see the trees so small.
EpcotPreview3.jpg

And the obligatory picture of the monorail platform since that is all the further we got to go.
